An Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award

Many thanks to Yvette of in so many words (one of my favorite blogs) who's bestowed The Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award upon me. Little does she know that I'm a law unto myself when it comes to the rules and regs of blog awards!

The rules and regs on this particular award are to give it to twelve other bloggers and to list seven random facts about myself. I won't be passing it on-- not because I'm an award hog, but because I hate choosing other blogs to award. Some deserving soul always gets left out. Always.

As for the seven random facts about myself... hmm.....

  1. I am the granddaughter, daughter and wife of Navy men. I didn't plan on the last one, but I certainly wasn't stupid enough to pass him by!
  2. My original major when I started college was French.
  3. My hair started turning gray when I was sixteen. I've decided to no longer dye my hair, and I have my fingers crossed that it will be snow white once the dye's all gone. (There are advantages to gray/white hair. I know from experience!)
  4. I have a storage unit that contains nothing but Christmas decorations. (Inside-the-house ones.)
  5. Until recently I've been amicably sharing my pool space with a black widow spider.
  6. For my first wedding anniversary/birthday, Denis took me up in a hot air balloon.
  7. I love maps.
Oh... and whatever you do, don't any of you tell Yvette that I'm allergic to strawberries!

  4. Yes, well-deserved award! And gray hair can be so fun - you get 10% off and free doughnuts once a month at Fry's, you know! And who says growing old isn't worth it? LOL

  5. Somehow irresistibly sweet doesn't quite fit you: smart, funny, friendly, and clever, yes, but not irresistibly sweet which makes me think of gooey caramel or pecan pie. Well, congratulations.

A black widow spider? Boy, you can add brave to that list. Oh and I like natural hair. Mine now has a gray spot that looks like a bald spot if I glance in the mirror. Scared me more than once I can tell you!

  6. Cathy - My hair went in the opposite direction. At my advanced age I should be completely gray. My brother is and he's younger than me. (He is jealous of my full head of almost completely dark brown hair.)

People think I dye it. But I don't.

My mother had snow white hair. I loved it. Hope mine will do the same.

So many interesting facts about you Cathy. Hot air balloon. WOW! As for the spider thing, I never intentionally kill the spiders in my house. They eat insects which annoy me even more. We share an amicable existence too. :)

Well, at least you can admire strawberries from afar.

  7. I've never dyed my hair. I figure I earned every one of those gray hairs.

I collect maps. Every new place we visit, I have to buy a map.

I usually leave spiders alone, unless they're running at my bare feet or just suddenly appear in front of me or on my clothes. But I think I'd have done something about the black widow, given the option.

  8. Congratulations on the award, Cathy! I loved reading your seven things.. Have you read Anne Kreamer's book Going Gray? Great encouragement in there!

  9. LindyLouMac-- Yes, I tend to like those little tidbits myself, but when I have to choose, I have a devil of a time deciding which ones to share!

    Margot-- ¡Hola!

    Kathy-- Thanks!

Jill-- I'm certainly enjoying most of growing older. Of course that has a lot to do with the company I keep!

Barbara-- I wouldn't exactly call myself sweet either! You should've seen me when I first started dying my hair. It took me a week to stop jumping and gasping every time I happened to look in a mirror!

Yvette-- You sound like you've gone the route my mother did. Stand my mother and me side by side, and I looked like the much older sister!

I'm glad to see someone else who can live amicably with our eight-legged friends. :)

Pepper-- I've earned every one of mine, too. But when I turned 40 I realized that I'd been gray for over well over half my life, and I wanted a change. Now I'm ready for another change. :-)

As for the black widow... she is no more, and as the guilty party, I feel guilty about it.

Debbie-- You folks have given me another idea for a blog post: Soliloquy on Gray Hair! LOL
