December 2020 Additions to my eBook Stockpile

November was definitely an anomaly because December shows that I tripped and at least fell partially into the eBook rabbit hole. With one notable exception, I stuck to the freebies or bargains, which didn't put too much strain on the purse.

I've grouped my acquisitions by genre/subgenre, and if you click on the title, you'll be taken to Amazon US for more information about the book. Now let's see what I couldn't resist last month!

A Hanging at Dawn by Charles Todd. Set in India.
Manila Noir edited by Jessica Hagedorn. Set in the Philippines.
Gone Before Christmas by Charles Finch. Set in England. My review on Goodreads.

Well, how did I do? Have you read any of these? Which ones? Did any of them tickle your fancy? You know that I want to know which ones, so spill! *laughing*

  1. You've got some good 'uns here, Cathy! I really like Rhys Bowen's work, and the Charles Todd team doesn't disappoint, either. Hope you enjoy them all!

  2. I've not read any of these but Early Riser looks interesting.
I added about a dozen ebooks to my Kindle from Overdrive.

    1. Adding eBooks to a Kindle is about as easy as breathing... only more dangerous!

  3. You know, Cahty, I give my wife a hard time because she's such an easy target of the TV shopping networks. I'm thankful that she has no idea how many e-books I buy because: they look interesting, I like the author, the cover catches my eye, or they are so cheap I'd be a fool not to buy them. It's just too easy.

You did well in December. I've acquired three books already in January, so they will continue to stack up quicker than I can possibly read them.

BTW, my library came through with a copy of The Rock Hole that you recommended last week. I'll be reading that one soon...as the kindle books pile up.

    1. My two weaknesses are books and yarn. As long as I download books to my Kindle, no one around here is really the wiser; however, the yarn is an entirely different story!

I am so glad you found a copy of The Rock Hole, Sam! I'm really looking forward to your thoughts on it.

  4. I've been to both Ceylon/Sri Lanka and Kuala Lumpur, so I'm interested in both of those. I was disappointed to see that the Todd and Finch books are actually novellas at best, because I'm not that fond of short stories. But I am interested to learn what you think of Early Riser - Fforde has such a unique turn of mind!

    1. I love the way Fforde's mind works, and he's another star I was able to meet at The Poisoned Pen. I'm thankful each and every day for that place.

I didn't used to be fond of short stories at all, but my mind has slowly changed over the past two to three years.

    1. I really enjoy Charles Todd's Bess Crawford series, Gretchen, and I would say that it's best to read them in order. Charles Finch is an author that many of my friends love, and I keep meaning to read his novels, but... I'm a magpie and keep getting distracted by shiny new book covers!

  6. Charles Todd and Charles Finch are both authors I enjoy. Looking forward to these. A couple of others also seem to be calling to me. :)

  7. I read a short story online by Fforde and laughed my head off. Did you find his books funny?

    1. Very much so, and I have a friend who's read his Thursday Next series and she cast me as Thursday in her mind every time she picked up one of the books.
