On My Radar: Jane Harper's The Survivors

I've been a fan of Australian author Jane Harper since her first book, The Dry. When she had a limited five-stop book tour here in the U.S., I was so lucky to be able to see her at The Poisoned Pen, and I wrote a blog post about it. Her last book, The Lost Man, was one of my Best Reads of 2019. So it goes without saying that I whooped and hollered and happy danced when I learned that she will have a new book coming out in February 2021.

Let me share more about the book.

Available February 2, 2021!
 Synopsis:

"Kieran Elliott's life changed forever on the day a reckless mistake led to devastating consequences.

The guilt that still haunts him resurfaces during a visit with his young family to the small coastal community he once called home.

Kieran's parents are struggling in a town where fortunes are forged by the sea. Between them all is his absent brother, Finn.

When a body is discovered on the beach, long-held secrets threaten to emerge. A sunken wreck, a missing girl, and questions that have never washed away...
"

It must be due to all the sailors in the family, but the sea and coastal areas are always one of my favorite settings, especially in other countries.

I'm really looking forward to The Survivors. How about you? Are you already a Jane Harper fan? She certainly gives readers a feel for Australia, so if you're not a fan and since this book is a standalone, this would be the perfect time to add a new author to your reading list!

  3. Thanks for the heads up on The Survivors. Jane Harper has become a favorite author. I have read her three books. The Lost Man was a favorite book of 2019 for me too.
I remember eating out at lunchtime by myself. I had the book The Lost Man with me. I was asked by both the waitress and hostess what I was reading and was it good. It was just like they pulled a string in my back and I started talking about the book. I said it is only February and I think it will be the best book I read this year. The hostess took a photo of the book on her phone and said she was going to read it. The waitress said the same thing. Both loved to read.
Another Australian author I like is Candice Fox . I enjoy her Crimson Lake series that takes place in Queensland. Yes, there are crocodiles that they hear roaring at night. I like this series due to the characters. Candice has become a favorite author too. I will keep up with her Crimson Lake series.

  5. Harper is new to me, but I'm always happy to hear about books out of Australia. For whatever reason, Australian authors are not ones I generally stumble across, and it seems like its always been that way. It's always the Brits and Canadians, and in the last few years, quite a few Scandinavian translations. Hopefully, my library will have some of her books. Thanks.

  6. I'm so excited about this one too and very much enjoyed her three previous books. And I'm still jealous that you got to see her. Sigh. Anyway, you can imagine that I'll have this in my hands as soon as I can. Is it coming out earlier in other parts of the world? Wonder if we could get it earlier.

Oh, did you see that Elly Griffiths will have a new standalone out next spring and also a new Ruth Galloway book?
