On My Radar: Craig Johnson's Depth of Winter

I'm still trying to catch up on laundry and various other (tedious) household chores, but you know me-- I'm always on the lookout for new books. Since I've been a diehard fan since his first book, The Cold Dish, what could be better than learning about Craig Johnson's next Walt Longmire mystery, Depth of Winter-- especially since the last book ended in a bone-chilling cliffhanger?

As soon as I saw the title, I recognized the quote: Albert Camus' "In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer." It gave me hope that Walt would be dealing with some warm weather instead of trying to fight the bad guys in the middle of a blizzard. You know me; I don't do so well in the cold...

Here's what I learned about the book--

Available September 4, 2018!

Synopsis:

"Welcome to Walt Longmire's worst nightmare.

In Craig Johnson's latest mystery, Depth of Winter, an international hit man and the head of one of the most vicious drug cartels in Mexico has kidnapped Walt's beloved daughter, Cady, to auction her off to his worst enemies, of which there are many. The American government is of limited help and the Mexican one even less. Walt heads into the one-hundred-and-ten-degree heat of the Northern Mexican desert alone, one man against an army."

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see how Walt deals with my kind of weather. (I already know how he deals with blizzards!) As far as I'm concerned, September can't come fast enough. What do you think?

    1. I'm so used to seeing Walt neck-deep in snow, it's going to be really interesting to see how he deals with the desert.

  2. I'm so behind on this series. My husband, however, is all caught up. He will be delighted to follow Walt into Mexico. ;-)

  3. It'll be really interesting to see how Johnson handles the different context and environment, Cathy. He is a very skilled writer, so I'm sure it'll be a suspenseful, well-written story.
