I became a cheerleader for author William Shaw before I'd even finished reading The Birdwatcher, the first book in which Detective Sergeant Alexandra Cupidi appears. I've never rated any book in this five-volume series lower than an "A", and three of them have appeared on my Best Reads of the Year list. If that's not a sign of how much I love this series, I don't know what is.
So, it will be absolutely no surprise that when I learned there was a sixth book in the series coming out next year, I hopped on my scooter and went out to pop a few wheelies on the driveway. Let me share more about it!
Available in the UK May 23, 2024! |
Synopsis:
"The body of a local woman is found washed up on the Folkstone
shoreline. Cupidi must find the missing link between a group of wild
swimmers, an online dating profile, and a slippery killer who feels
remarkably close to home."
You may find it strange for me to share a book with a UK release date, but I love this series so much that I can't wait for the US release so I order it from the UK. Yes-- yet another sign of how much I love this series!
Fellow fans will understand my excitement, and if you don't, I urge you to pick up a copy of The Birdwatcher. This is a series best savored in order because of the character development. It's really something special, and I can't wait for May.
Cathy, first of all, sorry I haven't been around to comment, but glad to hear that both you and Denis are doing better. We've been extremely busy as we have moved back to the Austin area and have been working at settling in. Hoping to get my blog an update this week. Anyway, I'm fairly certain that I have THE BIRDWATCHER and maybe the next book on my Kindle - still unread. Will make a point to try this series soon. Hope your week goes well.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you, Kay. I'm looking forward to your update.
DeleteThis is great news. I've been wishing and hoping for a new book in this series, and I'm absolutely thrilled to hear that one is in the pipeline now. I find the setting fascinating, and I'm still intrigued by the recurring characters. One of my favorite series from the last few years.
ReplyDeleteMine, too. I knew you'd be someone who'd like this news.
DeleteAnother series for me to add to my list. This one sounds "right up my street."
ReplyDeleteI think you'd really like it, Dorothy.
DeleteIt's always exciting when there's a new book coming out in a favorite series! :D
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is!
DeleteThank you for the reminder about this series! When The Birdwatcher was released, my library didn't have it while I remembered to check for it. But today, they have it and copies are available so I can start to enjoy - probably over the Thanksgiving holiday next week.
ReplyDeleteI'd envy you if I didn't have my own literary plans for Thanksgiving. :-)
