Falling by T. J. Newman

First Line: When the shoe dropped into her lap the foot was still in it.

A flight to New York with one hundred forty-three passengers aboard has just taken off. What these people don't know is that, thirty minutes before their flight, the pilot's family was kidnapped.

If the pilot wants his family to live, he must crash the plane and kill everyone on board.

This fast-paced thrill ride was just what I needed to take my mind off my worries. There was never any doubt in my mind that the pilot and crew would save the day, and this freedom allowed me to put my little gray cells to work on figuring out how they would succeed with minimal casualties.

I learned a bit about the world of flight attendants, I enjoyed cheering on the good guys, and I loved how the bad guys were thwarted. All in all, a fun read that makes me want to read Newman's next book.

  1. This certainly sounds high-octane, Cathy! And a thriller that can also make me care about the characters is all that much better. Of course, I may not feel so comfortable next time I have to fly somewhere...

  2. My brother gave me a copy of this one a few weeks ago but I haven't read it yet. Glad to see that you enjoyed it even though I can't really work it in right now. Definitely one to come back to.

  5. I've seen Drowning at the library, but the timing hasn't been right to pick it up. I'll be on the lookout for Falling also, for a fun thriller read.

  6. I had been putting this off because of a flight, but now that is past, I should read it before I make any other vacation plans!
