It's been a long, long time since this has happened: I wound up with two copies of the same book. Instead of returning the duplicate, I decided to give it away to one of you. Hopefully, the winner will receive it before Christmas.
This time I'm giving away an autographed copy of Val McDermid's short story anthology Christmas Is Murder. The hardcover book has a mylar cover protecting the dust jacket, and the autograph page is a tip-in-- a page that is printed separately from the main text of the book, but attached to the book. Let's tell you more about this collection of tales.
"The Queen of Crime Val McDermid is a master of the dark and sinister story, and these powers are demonstrated in full force in Christmas is Murder, a festive collection of chilling tales.
From
an irresponsible baron whose body is discovered beneath a silver birch
tree, to an author who is haunted by the spiteful presence of a jealous
writing partner, the characters McDermid conjures are enigmatic and
dangerous, never above suspicion.
Follow Tony Hill and Carol
Jordan as they track a deadly killer who is preparing to strike on
Christmas Day, and lose yourself in a festive exclusive - a recently
unearthed case for a classic detective duo, set as the lights are going
out across Europe.
These evocative, atmospheric tales will
shock and delight. This is the perfect book to curl up with as the
frosty winter draws in and each night gets darker than the last, written
by one of our greatest living crime writers."
McDermid is one of my favorite writers, and I'm going to enjoy sitting by the fire with a mug of tea and my copy of this book!
One autographed hardcover edition of Val McDermid's Christmas Is Murder.
It has a protective
mylar cover on the dust jacket, and is fresh from The Poisoned Pen
Bookstore. You can see it in the photo above.

You are so generous, Cathy!
ReplyDeleteFar better to give it away to someone who will appreciate it than just go for a refund!
DeleteYou certainly are generous! Love the sound of this one!
ReplyDeleteI'm just about to start reading it, Kay. (Lovely to see you back commenting here and there, by the way.)
DeleteMcDermid can be pretty "gritty" at times. I'm looking forward to hearing from you how she handled Christmas stories, even murder ones like these. (Love her writing, myself.)
ReplyDeleteI love her writing, too. I'm just about to start reading it. I'm really looking forward to it.
DeleteShe's one of my very favorites!
ReplyDeleteMine, too-- probably why I wound up with two copies!
