Another week has come and gone, and it's time to take a look at the second of five bookcases that are devoted to my TBR (To-Be-Read) books. You can see all of them in the photo. I told someone in a recent email, that, if all my books were to disappear, this house would no longer feel like my home. Books are an intrinsic part of my life.
In this post, we'll go shelf by shelf, just as we did with the
first bookcase. I did some tricky things with the lighting in the photos to try to cut glare and make the titles legible. I've purposely left the file sizes large so you can manipulate the photos to see everything. If one isn't clear enough, all you have to do is leave a comment asking me the title: "Cathy, what's the title of the book that's the fourth from the left on the third shelf?" Easy peasy!
Now let's take a look at those books!

I've only read two: Witness the Night by Kishwar Desai, more than a mystery, social commentary on misogyny, and I read the Richard Galbraith/J.K. Rowling. I haven't heard of most of the rest.
ReplyDeleteI would not feel comfortable in my apartment without my books and the pottery and photos on the bookshelves, too. That's what makes my house my home. Grew up with books and it would be awful to be without them.

ReplyDeleteMy home wouldn't be right without my bookshelves (which I assembled myself, too), but mine hold the 'keepers' that I have already read. The TBR titles get one smaller case in my bedroom (with occasional overflow stacks on the floor), and a massive list waiting on Goodreads. I've been extremely glad of this full case during the past month!
Oh, I have two REALLY BIG (why did I just hear Ed Sullivan?) bookcases that Denis and I bought from Costco. They were so big that we had to rent a vehicle to get them to the house so we could put them together. Who knows? I might give those two the same treatment some day.
DeleteI never put books on the floor. They're on my kitchen table and bed. I gave books to the library years ago and still miss them on the bookshelf which is partially empty now. I keep books that belonged to loved ones which I inherited, along with my own.

DeleteI can't give them away. I even have my father's books by Aristotle and Plato and one other Greek philosopher. I've never read them.
