December 2019 Additions to My eBook Stockpile

December was a good month for fluffing my digital security blanket. I not only managed to get a couple of titles free, but I also got the jump on holiday spending by using a gift card or two. How do I manage to find bargain eBooks? By subscribing to daily emails from places like Book Bub and Early Bird Books. There are plenty of sites that do this, so let Google guide you to them. Just make sure you don't take penny-pinching to an extreme by downloading pirated books. That is theft, plain and simple, and doesn't help your favorite authors pay the bills OR write more of the books you love to read. Be careful, okay?

Now that I got all that off my chest, let's take a book at the books I added to my eReader. I've grouped them by genre and/or subgenre. Hopefully, that will help your eyes find what you're looking for. If you want to know more about a specific title, click on the title and you will be taken to Amazon US for more information. I'm not affiliated with Amazon; I just own a Kindle.

  1. You got some nice ones here, Cathy! Barclay, Box, Locke...all of them terrific. And you've got some solid variety here. Always good to have that e-security blanket ready...

    1. It certainly is-- and I also believe in a fully stocked physical library. I'm covered on both bases!

  2. I've read Heaven My Home, The Ruin, What the Dead Leave Behind, and Where the Crawdads Sing. I just skipped over to Amazon for a copy of Anne Boleyn: 500 Years of Lies--so thanks for that! I've had a thing about Anne since Brief Gaudy Hour by Margaret Campbell Barnes, which was definitely sympathetic to Anne. :)

    1. I've had a thing about Anne Boleyn for a long time, so I really perked up when I ran across Nolan's book. I really enjoy histories that show us an alternative view because history as we know it was written by the winners to make themselves look good.

  3. Let's see - I have a few of these. Have read The Ruin - think I mentioned that it and the followup in the series, The Scholar, made my best mystery series for the year. I really liked it. Our mystery group is reading and discussing the Crawdad book in May. I have it on audio and will listen to it later in the spring. I know I picked up Elevator Pitch and think I probably own a couple of others, but all unread by me. Looks like some good ones, Cathy! Enjoy!

  4. You have some good books ahead of you: Heaven, My Home, Where the Crawdads Sing and November Road. I see some more titles to add to the TBR lists.

    1. Here I go again, adding to your TBR lists. Shame on me!

  5. Yes, but I may wait for your reviews. That often decides whether I'll get the book or not.
By the way, David Rosenfelt has a new series almost out which includes a team with a dog, and some of his other characters. His Facebook page tells about it, and also has photos of the many huge dogs he and his spouse, Debbie, have rescued -- who take up most of the room in their bed. Hilarious.

    1. Yes, I've been following along. The name of the first book in the new series is The K Team. Rosenfelt talked about it the last time he appeared at The Poisoned Pen.
