Anyone who's read this blog for very long knows that I am an Ann Cleeves fangirl. Not only do I love her books, but the British have also made two wonderful television series based on her Shetland Island and Vera Stanhope series (Shetland and Vera). I was sad when she ended her Shetland Island series-- although she did carry on with it for longer than she'd intended-- but it made me curious about what was next for this talented writer.
Well, reader, I found out!
The Two Rivers series is her latest, and the first book, The Long Call, will be released on September 3, 2019. Let's read more about it!
Available 3 September 2019! |
Now, as he turns and walks away again, he receives a call from one of his team. A body has been found on the beach nearby: a man with a tattoo of an albatross on his neck stabbed to death.
The case calls Matthew back into the community he thought he had left behind, as deadly secrets hidden at its heart are revealed, and his past and present collide.
An astonishing new novel told with compassion and searing insight, The Long Call will captivate fans of Vera and Shetland, as well as new readers."
I can't wait for Ann Cleeves to take me to North Devon, and I'm sure all fellow Cleeves fans will agree. Haven't read any of her books? What better way to get acquainted than with this brand-new series. Add it to your wishlist!
I'm intrigued already, Cathy! Cleeves is so good at evoking place and local character. And the plot sounds intriguing! Yup - I'm interested!
ReplyDeleteGood! :-)
DeleteGreat news! I will definitely be reading it. Ann Cleeves is a favorite author. Also, nice to get in at the start of a series. I know Louise Penny has many fans and I read how they are waiting for her next book. I always, wonder if they have tried a Vera or Shetland book by Ann Cleeves. I feel they would like it. She is a wonderful author.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I finished The Lost Man by Jane Harper and I just loved it. It is a favorite read of 2019.
I agree. I think many Louise Penny fans would really enjoy Ann Cleeves.
DeleteFantastic! I am soooo glad you loved THE LOST MAN!
I like Ann Cleeves, but I like the TV series even more. I love the scenery in both series and the actors.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm waiting for The Lost Man to hit my library branch, but I am in Oz in Scrublands, feeling the heat and dryness. I am thirsty just reading this terrific book.
I feel a bit at home reading books like The Lost Man just because of the climate.
