On My Radar: Vaseem Khan's Bad Day at the Vulture Club

If you've been following along with me on Kittling: Books for very long, you know that I enjoy crime fiction that is set in other countries. I love learning about other cultures while I do a bit of armchair sleuthing. One of the series that I've really come to enjoy is Vaseem Khan's Baby Ganesh Agency in which a retired police officer who has a baby elephant as a sidekick solves crimes all over the city of Mumbai, India. The series just keeps getting stronger with each book-- I loved Murder at the Grand Raj Palace Hotel!-- so you have to know that I was thrilled when a friend on Goodreads informed me about the next book in the series. Bad Day at the Vulture Club may not be released until August 2019, but it's never too early for me-- or you-- to add a book to our wishlists. Let's find out more about this newest addition to Vaseem Khan's series!

Available August 2019!
Synopsis:

"In the gripping new Baby Ganesh Agency novel, Inspector Chopra and his elephant sidekick investigate the death of one of Mumbai's wealthiest citizens, a murder with ramifications for its poorest.

The Parsees are among the oldest, most secretive and most influential communities in the city: respected, envied and sometimes feared.

When prominent industrialist Cyrus Zorabian is murdered on holy ground, his body dumped inside a Tower of Silence - where the Parsee dead are consumed by vultures - the police dismiss it as a random killing. But his daughter is unconvinced.

Chopra, uneasy at entering this world of power and privilege, is soon plagued by doubts about the case.

But murder is murder. And in Mumbai, wealth and corruption go in hand in hand, inextricably linking the lives of both high and low..."

One of the things I enjoy so much about this series is that Khan takes readers through different facets of life in India and in the city of Mumbai itself-- like Bollywood, India's phenomenal movie-making center. I'm looking forward to learning more about the Parsees in Bad Day at the Vulture Club, and I hope you'll join me.

How many of you have read any books in the Baby Ganesh series? Inquiring minds would love to know!

  1. I read the first one at a time when I needed fun in my reading, and it was enjoyable. Whether I read another one I'm not sure. I like reading one book in a series to test it out and then continuing on with my tasting of many books. I loved the elephant.

  3. I have not read this series as yet, but I do remember that it's a favorite of yours. I liked Tarquin Hall's series and also would like toread Sujata Massey's new series. I haven't told the mystery group yet, but my plan for August of 2019 (the month where we focus on location and setting) is 'The I's have it'. Any country that begins with an 'I'. Lots of variety there, including India. And isn't it nice that the new one of this series will be out that month. LOL
