On My Radar: Stephen King's The Outsider

As I was reading my way through the online news the other day, I spotted something about Entertainment Weekly's exclusive first look at the cover of Stephen King's next book. I decided to take a look, not because I was all that interested in what the cover looked like, but because I wanted to learn what the title was, find out what the book was about and when it would be released. Well, I managed to find out all that good stuff, so I thought I'd share it all with you.

The next Stephen King book is titled The Outsider, and it will be released on May 22, 2018. Here's the synopsis from Amazon:

"An eleven-year-old boy’s violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City’s most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

As the investigation expands and horrifying answers begin to emerge, King’s propulsive story kicks into high gear, generating strong tension and almost unbearable suspense. Terry Maitland seems like a nice guy, but is he wearing another face? When the answer comes, it will shock you as only Stephen King can.
"

From the looks of it, King is taking on crime fiction again, and I liked what he did with his Bill Hodges trilogy so much that I've already pre-ordered this new book. I also have to admit that I ordered the Kindle version. 600-page tomes can cause damage when you nod off and they fall on your face....

Do any of you read Stephen King?

  2. I'm a big Stephan King fan though I didn't like his last one, Sleeping Beauties, at all. I've put this one on my Amazon Wish List

    1. Sleeping Beauties left something to be desired to me, too, but I chalked that up more to Owen than Stephen.

  3. I am a King fan from way, way back, though what I've read is all in the horror side of things. I haven't read his crime fiction yet, but this might be the book that changes that. This looks way good!

    1. It certainly does, especially since I know how well he did with Bill Hodges. And I'm a way-back fan, too. A couple of cherished reading memories involve Stephen King.
