This week could've used at least three more days. Doctor appointments, service tech out to perform regular maintenance on the heat pump, getting the electric trimmer out to prune several shrubs so Denis can put up the Christmas lights, grocery shopping, laundry, cooking, decorating eleven trees, getting out all the other decorations, and stitching up a storm. The one thing that's suffered is my reading time, and I'm beginning to jones a little, so that better change fast!
Speaking of that service tech, he walked into a house with eleven Christmas trees, and did he say anything about that? No. Wanna know what he did say?
"Wow-- you sure do have a lot of books!"
The newest Christmas decoration: a star basket |
Right now I'm stitching something that will be for next year: valances in Christmas colors for the windows in the library.
Let me get those links rounded up so I can go track down my book. I hate it when my eye starts to twitch and my hands start to shake from reading withdrawal!

New to My Google Reader
That's all for this week. Don't forget to stop by next weekend when I'll have a freshly selected batch of links for your surfing pleasure! Now... where's my book???
Loved the one about the unsatisfying endings. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome, Jeanne!
DeleteI probably wouldn't have commented on the books because they'd look normal to me. The 11 trees, now that's a different story.
ReplyDeleteYou've hit the nail on the head, Kathy-- is he so used to seeing a forest of Christmas trees that he doesn't even notice them????
DeleteCathy - First, thanks as ever for the links :). I know all about having those busy kinds of weeks. I sometimes wish that my weeks had at least fifty more hours in them. I had to laugh at what that service tech. said. And you work so hard at decorating too. Oh well... I love your latest addition, too - it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'll cut him a bit of slack. There were still boxes lying around, and things hadn't had their final "fluffing"! ;-)
DeleteTwitch..did you say, twitch?? I hadn't noticed! But maybe it's because it's all I'm doing lately. I know what you mean about real life creating a reading withdrawal. I have really noticed it the last two months and I am NOT happy about it.
ReplyDeleteYour home sounds like the perfect place to be - Christmas AND reading. Go ahead and fill the basket with sweets, treats or more bookmarks! What the heck, it's the season to be merry, right? Now, would you come and decorate my house??? I'm feeling rather grinch-ish when it comes to hauling out the decorations.
Thanks for the links...I feel even more disconnected from reading since my regular computer crashed and we threw in Thanksgiving and work. You're awesome to help me feel more a part of things. Thanks a million.
You know, Gaye, if I'd gotten the head start on decorating my house that I'd intended, I might've offered my services to you. As it is, I'm barely going to survive decorating this house! (And I fully intend to read in the splendor of my Christmas forest!)
DeleteOne day I will make it to PHX to see those decorations!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to it, Mike. We both do!
DeleteLike the lists as usual Cathy. Nice decoration too. Hard to imagine Plath was only 30 and Flannery O'Connor 39. They were beyond their years! cheers. http://www.thecuecard.com/
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed the links. Thanks for stopping by!
