The Hard Slog Weekly Link Round-Up

Whenever I receive advanced reading copies, I take their publication dates very seriously. Unless something unforeseen happens, I have a review up here on Kittling: Books during the first week of the book's publication. For the most part the advanced reading copies that I receive are books I would choose to read anyway, so the actual reading of them is not a chore. What is a chore is when publication dates bunch together. That's what's been happening lately, and I've been chafing at the fact that I feel that I have to read these books and I have to read them now.

Of course, that's all a big pile of bullfeathers. No one is holding a gun to my head and forcing me to read these books. It's just my work ethic and commitment that have been holding me hostage.  I am happy to say that the next two weeks will find me reading whatever I get a wild hair to read. I've already started, and it's sheer bliss! Now that I've whined about something many of you fellow book bloggers are well-acquainted with, I feel much better. On to those links!

Bookish News & Other Interesting Stuff
  • A short video on YouTube: Mark Grist, a man who prefers women who read.
  • J.K. Rowling's adult novel is to be called The Casual Vacancy, and will be published worldwide on September 27.
  • Anyone else in the Phoenix area thinking about attending the CozyCon on May 5?
  • If it weren't for Debbie of ExUrbanis, I wouldn't know the story behind those KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON posters I've been seeing everywhere. That it involves my favorite bookshop in England is icing on the cake:

That's it for this week. Don't forget to stop by next weekend when I'll have a freshly selected batch of links for your surfing pleasure!

  2. The way you feel about review copies is also the way I feel when all the books I request at the library come in at once!
