This is what has happened for this week's featured blogger. I enjoy Reese's blog, Miss Bookish Girl, because it tends to gravitate toward non-fiction books and because she also shares her love of cooking and travel. But between the time Reese sent me her goodies and the date they were scheduled to appear for you all to read, family and pet issues have intervened. Reese emailed me about this, explaining that she may not be able to respond to comments as she'd like.
Reese also apologized for having a blog that's not as updated as she'd like it to be. I know that all of us have had similar periods in our own lives, and we completely understand what Reese is trying to say. I hope you'll take the time to visit Miss Bookish Girl to take a look at a very good blog and to say hello and to lend some moral support.
If you're visiting here from Reese's blog, Welcome! If you'd like to see any of the photos in a larger size, all you have to do is click on them, and a larger size will open in another window. Let's go see Reese's creative spaces!
I tend to blog all over the house, but the two places I usually end up are either on my bed, or in the living room at the coffee table.
|Tiny, waiting patiently to begin blogging.|
As you can see in the first picture, my cat, Tiny, sits in front of my laptop on the bed. For those that have been visiting my blog for some time, you might recognize her as my avatar (and something of a mascot) for my blog. I don't really use her as that any more, but she makes a good stand-in for me since I have a tendency to be camera-shy.
The bed set up is simple, I have books on the lower shelf of the bedside table (which you can sort of see in the picture), which are usually selections that I'm currently reading or will be reading soon. I don't often read one book at a time, though I frequently try to read too many at once. :)
|Coffee table blogging|
The other picture features the coffee table in the living room. I took this one just this morning, hence my cup of coffee. And how cute is that Penguin logo mug? I love it!
I usually end up in the living room because if I constantly blog from my bedroom then I feel like I'm just being way too lazy for my own good. It's ridiculous really, since when I'm in the living room, I often have the laptop perched on my lap with my feet up. This is not the picture of efficiency on the surface, but it works for me. ;)
I confess to having the TV on low pretty much all day. I watch/listen to A LOT of Travel Channel, hence my foodie and travel streak. I know a lot of people cannot fathom writing with anything going on the background. Music isn't usually much of a problem for most people, but TV tends to be a no-no. For me, I treat it like radio, so it works. Silence is...too quiet for me.
It goes without saying that no matter where I am in the house, if I'm sitting still long enough, at least one (or both) of my cats are not far away. Okay, so they're usually next to me or near my feet. Tiny in particular loves to try to sit on my lap or walk on the keyboard. This happens most when I'm in the middle of a great train of thought.
Well, there you have it! I'm sure I'm not the only blogger to blog primarily from my bed....right?
You're absolutely correct, Reese! There are other guests who've confessed to preferring to blog in bed. I love the photo of Tiny waiting for you on your bed. It's almost as if that cat is saying, "Stop being silly and come over here with me!" (Makes sense to me-- that bed looks comfy!)
I used to love writing with the television or radio on; it seemed to center my thoughts somehow. Now I've moved over into the other camp and cherish the silence. I wish I'd make up my mind!
Thank you so much for taking the time to show us your creative spaces, Reese. We certainly do appreciate the glimpse into your life and your home. I also hope that everything calms down for you and yours. Good, positive thoughts and vibes heading your way from Phoenix!
Don't forget to stop by next Wednesday when I'll be featuring another book blogger from our worldwide community!
