Cathy I love A.R. Quinton's illustrations. We have a series of little cookbooks over here - the 'Favourite Series' and there are loads of his illustrations throughout these little books. They give you such a view of times gone by. I would love to live in one of the cottages he paints but the sad thing is that if you went back to where the illustrations were done the properties are probably all gone now.
Barbara-- The 1912 text talks about these buildings disappearing then. Just one of the many reasons why I wish there were an affordable time machine available!
Oooooh, this is charming!
ReplyDeleteDorte-- I fell in love with the book as soon as I found it on a shelf at a used bookshop and opened it to the first watercolor!
