  1. Such an odd contrast -- statue and the arch.

  2. That seems like an odd place for that statue. What's the story behind it?

  3. I'll have to look this one up. We are on our way to Arches National Park and at first glance I thought that was the location of this picture. Very interesting with the statue.

  4. that is an odd combination--I've never seen anything manmade at an arch--I've never been to this one. I always love to come here and look at the art work you have at the top of the page. This one is so sweet, blue leaves and a blue bird. I love it. If you want to wander down my road I’m home.

  5. Window Rock is not only the name of the sandstone arch in the background, it's capital of the Navajo Nation. The Code Talkers were instrumental in defeating the Japanese during World War II. The vast majority of Code Talkers were young Navajo soldiers speaking their own language. The Japanese could never break the "code".

The sandstone arch known as Window Rock is sacred ground to the Navajo. Having a statue of the Code Talkers in such close proximity to the arch shows how esteemed these men are. As well they should be.

  6. Thank you for bringing the photo + the background.

My immediate thought was that if I ever wanted to try playing golf, this was the right place to practise ´hole in one´ LOL

  7. Dorte-- I want to be a fly on the wall when you try it. Actually... maybe I don't. It could be ugly when you're caught!
