Do you restrict yourself on how many books you take out from the library at a time? Do you borrow books if you already have some out? Do you always reborrow books you don’t get to?
This is going to be a snap! I'm a mood reader who likes all the convenience of having a smorgasbord of books around her with none of the worries of late fees or knowing that others are waiting for the books.
I'm not a library patron, although I admire those who are. I happen to donate books to my local library, so perhaps I am a patron in my own strange way....
A big Thank You to Rebecca of Just One More Page for hosting this meme. If you'd like to join in, or if you'd just like to read more responses, just click on the Musing Mondays graphic at the top of this post.
See you next Monday!
I do use a library but I am sparing and never have more than 3 books at one time. I can't possibly get through more than that in a week or so and I feel it's just plain rude to hoard books while others might be waiting for them. I mainly use the library for audio books and books from authors I've never tried. I also have my own rather large TBR pile (bought books, ARCs and swapped ones) so I'm never short of something to read.
ReplyDeletemmmm. the library where I work recently upped the check out limit to 100 items and the 'holds' limit to 50 items. as an employee I'm exempt from late fees so I am always surrounded by dozens and dozens of library books.
ReplyDeleteat our library the donated books are sold by the Friends of the Library group and are never added to the collection. (though the money raised by these sales is used to purchase new books).
(and everyone who lives in the area served or pays taxes there or walks in the door is a Patron ;)
I can't imagine life without a library - I borrow lots of books.
ReplyDeleteI do the same. I tend not to take out from the library, but I do put in!
ReplyDeleteI used to use the library all the time, but rarely do these days.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sporadic patron but I know what you mean about not having to worry about deadlines and getting it read in a certain time frame.
ReplyDeleteBut now I review books so I guess I still have that time frame issue after all! lol
I confess I looted the library today - six books in my Library Loot! But I have to have four of them read and returned in three weeks!
ReplyDeleteI am also a mood reader, Cathy! I donate to the library & I am a "Friend" @ several libraries. lol.
ReplyDeleteI like to have my own goodies. lol.
Here's mine:

I need the library, if I bought the books I read in a year (over 200), I would be broke.
ReplyDeleteI've only recently started using my library. Prior to that I would just purchase all of my books. I think it helps that my library delivers. If they didn't I probably wouldn't have used it as frequently!
ReplyDeleteI am in no need of more books at the moment. I will return to borrowing from the library as soon as I finish reading all the unread books in my house.
ReplyDeleteI figure about 2015...lol
Bernadette--I'm sure many other library patrons appreciate your thoughtfulness! I'm heading over to comment on your own post.
ReplyDeleteAlan--I like the idea that what books I don't trade at Paperback Swap can be sold at my local library in order to purchase new ones. I don't care if I ever step foot inside to read any of them or not. Needless to say, I also feel that every cent of my tax dollars that go toward our library system is very well spent. By the way, thanks for adding me to your blog roll! (Making a note to return the favor.)
Margaret--I knew from reading your blog that you're a great library patron. :)
Rhapsody--It's a very good feeling to help out such a wonderful system, isn't it? :)
Kathy--We aren't lacking in book love, are we? :)
Sunny--I try not to have very many ARCs in my reading pile so I don't have to worry about those blasted deadlines! LOL
BBDog--Great to hear from another library patron!
Resort--Here's to the Mood Readers of the World! LOL
Nise--I read almost as many, so I know what you mean. That's one of the things I love about Paperback Swap.
Christina--Wow...a library that delivers!
Caite--You and me both! LOL
Well said! I love this answer! I don't "library" for much the same reason ... don't like the pressure and I don't know what I'll want to read next! : )
ReplyDeleteJenners--I agree, but even if I don't physically patronize a library, I don't want to see a single one of them close. They are such precious resources!
