Poll Results-- The Race Is Done

My last poll wondered what my readers would do if they found themselves in traction with plenty of time on their hands to read. I tried to list every possible scenario I could think of with the answer choices, and everyone who voted made it quite a horse race.

WIN
"Bring me that pile that's on my nightstand at home, please" took the lead out of the gate and won by a commanding margin. A wire-to-wire victory!

PLACE
Second place finisher "My brain on pain meds? I want something light and fun!" romped in with a slight lead over

SHOW
...third place "Quick! Hand me all my Advance Reader Copies!" who barely nosed out

FOURTH
"I feel like I've been in a whodunit. Hand me a mystery, please!" in fourth.

ALSO RAN
"Ah, what a perfect time to re-read some old favorites" and "Now that I've got some time to concentrate, hand me some non-fiction" both finished up the track, while "Ack! My library books. I don't want to pay fines!" and "Books? Forget that. I'm going to catch up on my sleep!" never left the gate.

I hope you're all enjoying these polls as much as I am!

  1. I thought this was an interesting one. I felt like the sensible choice would have been the winner. But a couple of years ago, I was very sick - bedridden for weeks sick. All I wanted were my old favourites. I almost knew them by heart so didn't get caught up in suspense and could put them down anytime when my arms got tired. And seriously, they were a comfort to me.

  3. Susan--At age twelve, I was bedridden for six weeks. Fortunately my mother was a librarian who could keep me supplied with new reading material. I needed to keep my mind off why I was in bed, and re-reading "familiar ground" just wouldn't have done it for me.

Beth--I guess most people didn't want to inconvenience the people who would be bringing the books. Personally I'd think, "Hey, I'm in traction! The person who persuaded me to go down that slope one more time gets to bring me the books I want!" LOL

  4. As above, thanks for telling us the results.

I've only had one 'stay' in hospital (thank goodness) and it was for all of about 3 hours in total.

Still took several books (from my bedside table) with me, though!

  5. I really enjoy taking your polls, Cathy. Definitely keep them coming!

There are times I do not feel like reading when I am sick, but most of the time I am able to.
