Ann Patchett & the Triumph of the Readers

Author Ann Patchett is passionate about reading, and she is one person who's not surprised that, although the economy may be down, reading is on the rise. She also shows no surprise that the segment of the population with the largest surge in reading is the 18- to 24-year-olds. If you'd like a little good news and some inspiration, read her article in the Wall Street Journal in its entirety here.

  1. I read the article and it is fantastic. It's reassuring to read something that leaves with hope for future readership. We are flooded by everything electronic: games, games, games....
I always make sure that my daughter reads before she lays her hands on anything else.

  3. Perfect timing, Cathy. I'm currently working on a blog post and found an ideal quote there.

I spend so much time absorbed in children's literature, I don't get to enjoy good adult writing/journalism enough. Thanks for the link!
