Scene of the Blog-- Dorte of DJ's Krimiblog

I'd like to welcome you all to this new series in which I feature the work space of one book blogger each week. If you like what you see once you've read this post, and you haven't received an invitation to join us, by all means-- use the Contact Me form in my header to send me an email! Don't wait for an invitation because there's no way I have time enough to track all of you wonderful creators down! At this writing, over 50 book bloggers have joined in, and I'd like to see contributions from the hundreds of you out there!

This first week takes us to Denmark, where Dorte has an excellent crime fiction blog. I met her through Kim's Blog Improvement Project, and have found her to be a smart, fun, and very giving person. Here's what she has to say about her work space:

Scene of the Blog - or how to create a crime fiction blog -

Cathy has asked me to send her a photo of my blogging work space for her new "Scene of the Blog" feature. I am happy to help you, Cathy, and so flattered that you asked me. :-)

As I am very keen on recycling, I soon saw this as an opportunity to write a "how-to post" for my Blog Improvement Project. Accordingly, the aim of my short description is to tell you how to write "DJ´s Krimiblog" - so here is the post no one else could have written.

Dorte at work on her blog.

The two indispensable tools are my laptop and at least one, but preferably a whole stack of thick crime novels around me. Next I gather secondary, but still fairly important paraphernalia, such as my reading glasses, a USB disk and a mug of hot, black coffee. Usually, the final step is curling up in the most worn corner of our leather couch. (I could sit upstairs at my large desk in my study with the 700 books, but that is far away from my family and smacks of work.) This week is our winter holiday, however, so I have moved my portable blog scene to the new couch in our cottage, which is even "holidayer" than at home. ;-)

And the rest is very simple. I read a little, take a few notes, and let myself be distracted by other people´s wonderful blogs. Next I read a little, take a few notes and let myself get distracted... and once in a while I post something, wait a bit, and hope there are comments from some interesting guests to distract me.

  1. Much nicer than my disaster of a desk! I'll have to have my fiance take a picture of me at work on the blog when he's here this weekend, that is a good idea.

I am so glad, Cathy came up with this great idea - and glad people seem to like "our" post.

  8. I can see myself curled up there reading while she's blogging!

Kara--thanks for pointing out my glaring oversight! I do have Dorte listed in my blog roll, but I've just added a link to her blog in the post itself. Yikes!

  9. It does look comfy! My reading and blogging areas are separate, but I can certainly see the benefits of this great space.

  11. Thank you Dorte and Cathy. It is interesting to see how and where other people do their reviews/write their posts. My back would be complaining if I sat with the laptop, but you look so comfortable!

  14. Great post! The couch looks so comfy and cozy. I'm still trying to drag myself away from my desk and use the laptop in the living room. Old habits die hard.

  15. What a great start to this series!!!!
I found this very interesting! And I wish my husband would let me keep 700 books in the house!

  16. I think I'm going to love Scene of the Blog.

This spot looks so comfy. If only I had a laptop...then I could be all comfy when I post too.

  17. This was such a great idea Cathy! And thank you Dorte, for letting us have a peek at your lovely photo. If I had that couch I don't think I'd get much work done at all - it looks so luxurious :)

  18. Alyce--even if I had a laptop, I don't think I could blog in the family room. My husband has a surround sound system installed, and when he has the TV on, the only thing I can do to "multi-task" is needlepoint!

    Jenners--700 is a drop in the bucket. I have over 3,000. ;-)

I agree with you, Kris and Joanne---I wouldn't mind having that couch in my own home!
