It's been a while since you've seen one of these posts, isn't it?
I've not only been brightening up my kitchen and family room, but I've done the same thing in my bathroom. Here's a photo of the old color scheme.
Yes, I've knitted cotton wash cloths and hand towels for my bathroom. (I have to be different, dontcha know?)
Now, here is a photo of the new color scheme.
I absolutely love the colors in this yarn, so much so that I bought four huge cones of it. It's Lily Sugar'N Cream 100% cotton yarn in "Emerald Energy." I used the sand stitch from one of my stitch encyclopedias. It's sand stitch on one side and dot stitch on the other. I like reversible stitches, and this time around, I prefer the dot side. Since my bath towels were also old and tatty, I bought new ones. (Well over a year ago. Nothing like being behind the times on sharing.) I tried my luck with Amazon, and I could not believe how well I managed to match the colors! Take a look!
One of the programs I watched while I was knitting was Return to Paradise.
Here's the synopsis from IMDb: "Detective Inspector Mackenzie Clarke reluctantly returns to her Australian hometown after leaving her fiancé, only to be pulled into a case testing her tenacity until the culprit is apprehended."
Unfortunately, the best part of the series for me was the Australian scenery. The actress portraying DI Mackenzie Clarke put me off, and it wasn't just because of how her character was written (too abrasive). I hate to admit it, but her bulging, staring eyes bothered me. A lot. I found them creepy. The picture above doesn't come close to her appearance in the series. Her emaciated-looking face didn't help either. It's the first time I ever remember being put off watching something because of an actor's appearance, and I hope it never happens again!
I watched the entire first season because I wanted to see if the stories improved or if my reaction to the main character did. Neither did, so, if there is a second season, I won't be watching it.

First, Cathy, let me say that I absolutely love your new color scheme! I love teal and aqua, and you've made some beautiful things for your bathroom. As for Return to Paradise, I watched the first season as well, and I agree with you about Clark's personality. It is off-putting. I don't know if I'll be watching another season of it if/when it comes out, but I definitely see your point.
ReplyDeleteIf the worldwide reaction to the series is anything like the reaction here, I doubt there will be another season.
DeleteI'll chime in and say that I love the color scheme too! So, so pretty! I will admit that I've never used a knitted washcloth or hand towel, but I'm sure they work well. OK, we watched Return To Paradise too. Yeah, not my favorite. I'll be curious if there will be more seasons. I did like the Australian setting. We have been fans of the other two 'Paradise' shows and are looking forward to the new seasons before long.
ReplyDeleteI like the other two "Paradise" series, too, and may I just say that I am thrilled that "Death in Paradise" finally recruited a Black DI from the UK. About time!
DeleteI remember watching "Death in Paradise" several years ago. I gather "Return to Paradise" is a spinoff of that. Not sure I'm up for that..
ReplyDeleteI like your new color scheme and your knitting is amazing. I never learned to knit. Maybe it's not too late.
It's never too late, Dorothy. Evidently, there was a resurgence of knitting during the Pandemic.
DeleteLove the colours! I have to agree with regards to Return to Paradise, I’ll still with the British ones
ReplyDeleteIt's great to have an opinion from an Aussie! I'm still with the British ones, too.
DeleteHi Cathy, another Aussie comment. I follow you because you are a wonderful source of reading recommendations, but you are a font of all sorts of surprising things - including Oz TV. Totally agree with you about Return to Paradise, although Beyond Paradise is my favourite of all.
ReplyDeleteAt your recommendation I've got stuck into the Allison Montclair Sparks and Bainbridge series, and have loved the first four - for the language, the dialogue, the setting, and classic plotting. I've suddenly come across the information that the books are written psuedonymously by Alan Gordon. Isn't stopping me reading though!
I'm so glad you're enjoying the Sparks & Bainbridge series! Alan Gordon is a talented writer. I have a friend who loves his Fools' Guild series, so I was aware of his writing; however, I wasn't immediately aware of him being the author of Sparks & Bainbridge. When I did learn that he was, it made me smile.
DeleteI hope readers who learn that the author of this wonderful series is actually a man don't stop reading it because of that. Doing that, in my opinion, is just as silly as men who won't read women authors. Just think of all the wonderful books such people are missing out on!
