Last month's additions to my digital security blanket may have you scratching your heads and wondering if I was ill. Just TWO books added. TWO. No, I wasn't ill; my mind was elsewhere. Now, it could have been enticed with a nice sale or two, but those were few and far between. What it does prove to us all is that there is hope for me. If there can be a month with just two purchases, can a month with none at all be far behind?
We shall see!
Let's find out about the two books that did lead me straight down Temptation Street and into the doors of the Gotcha Shop. They are grouped by genre, and if you click on the link in the book title, you'll be taken to Amazon US where you can learn more about the book.
===Science Fiction===
The Daughter of Doctor Moreau by Silvia Moreno-Garcia set in Mexico.
■ Having read a few of this author's short stories and enjoyed them, I seem to be stockpiling all her novels for a rainy day. I am familiar with The Island of Doctor Moreau, and I'm looking forward to reading Moreno-Garcia's version of the tale.
===Cozy Mystery===
The Charity Shop Detective Agency by Peter Boland set in England.
■ I was shocked when this new title went on sale, and I didn't let any grass grow under my feet when it came to snapping it up. There's just something about British charity shops!
I love that Boland title, Cathy! Just on that score I want to read that book. I wish you a good new year!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Margot!
DeleteI've seen the first book, but not gotten it and I have not seen the second. Looks like a good one, Cathy! By the way, Happy New Year to you and Denis! Let's have a good 2023, OK?
ReplyDeleteI'll drink to that!
DeleteI read Moreno-Garcia's book last summer and enjoyed it immensely. I'm sure you will, too.
ReplyDeleteYes, your review was one of the main reasons why I bought it when the price was reduced.
DeleteWishing you a Happy 2023, Cathy! :D
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Lark!
DeleteYeah I enjoyed reading the Daughter of Doctor Moreau this past summer and I think you'll like it. It was good. A bit mysterious like the original tale. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to it.
DeleteI am definitely interested in the Charity Shop Detective Agency!
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me I'll be reading it soon. :-)
DeleteSomething strange must be going on: only two books to add to your digital supply? I have to take a shopping cart to the library to pick up the paper books. Once my Kindle is set up, I can add more books.
ReplyDeleteAnd therein the danger lies because you can't see them taking up physical real estate. But at least they're not threatening life and limb, and they don't need dusting.
