On My Radar: Elly Griffiths' Bleeding Heart Yard!

Like me, I know that many of you wait impatiently from one Dr. Ruth Galloway mystery to the next. Elly Griffiths just can't write 'em fast enough to suit us. For some reason, I just didn't take a shine to Griffiths' Mephisto & Stephens series set in the 1950s, but I certainly do like the books she's written that feature Harbinder Kaur. It was Happy Dance time when I learned that there is a new Harbinder book that will be released in a few months. Let me tell you more about it!

Available November 15, 2022!

Synopsis:

"When Cassie Fitzgerald was at school in the late 90s, she and her friends killed a fellow student. Almost twenty years later, Cassie is a happily married mother who loves her job—as a police officer. She closely guards the secret she has all but erased from her memory.

One day her husband finally persuades her to go to a school reunion. Cassie catches up with her high-achieving old friends from the Manor Park School—among them two politicians, a rock star, and a famous actress. But then, shockingly, one of them, Garfield Rice, is found dead in the school bathroom, supposedly from a drug overdose. As Garfield was an eminent—and controversial—MP and the investigation is high profile, it’s headed by Cassie’s new boss, DI Harbinder Kaur, freshly promoted and newly arrived in London. The trouble is, Cassie can’t shake the feeling that one of them has killed again.

Is Cassie right, or was Garfield murdered by one of his political cronies? It’s in Cassie’s interest to skew the investigation so that it looks like it has nothing to do with Manor Park and she seems to be succeeding.

Until someone else from the reunion is found dead in Bleeding Heart Yard…

Sounds like another good'un from Elly Griffiths, doesn't it? I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. How about you?

  1. Ooh, it sure sounds like a good 'un to me, Cathy! Funny, isn't it, how we have a real preference for one or another of an author's series. And that, to me, is one of the signs of a really talented author. Anyone who can create series that are different enough to win different kinds of fans earns lots of Margot-points.

  2. I'm so far behind in all of Elly Griffiths' series! But I did really love the first Harbinder mystery, and am looking forward to catching up on the others and reading this one, too. :)

  3. I've not read any of Griffiths' series but I've heard and read nothing but good things about them. She's on my (very long) list. I hope to get to her some time this year.

  4. Ruth Galloway is the only one of her series I've read so far. I can tell I'll probably enjoy this series, too, when I finally get myself to start on it.

  5. I knew about this book from listening to the event that Elly Griffiths did with the Poisoned Pen, but I'm glad you mentioned it. Cannot wait! Also, did you know that Griffiths will have a story in the new book called 'Marple'? I think several authors were invited to write new stories featuring Miss Marple. I'm not much of short story person, but I am very fond of Miss Marple. I'll be trying it.

    1. Thanks for reminding me of Marple. I'd read about it and forgotten to make a note of it. *gasp*
