Some of the Highways & Byways on Kittling: Books

Once in a while, Blogger sends me notifications about my blog. Sometimes, it's to tell me that certain parts of my blog may not be showing up properly on the gadgets y'all use to read my posts. (Heaven forbid!) I've also seen how Kittling: Books shows up on different electronic paraphernalia. Since it's not always easy to get the full picture, I thought I'd share a little road map with you... just in case you want to have a mosey around.

I've been blogging here since June 2008, so there are plenty of posts. I've loved to organize things most of my adult life, and it didn't take me long to realize that I may want to have some sort of catalogs for my reviews and favorite posts.

Did you know that you can look through my reviews by book title, author name, genre, and setting? Just click on Review Categories and take your pick. My lists have gotten so long that I've had to divide them up. Who knows? You may see that one of your absolute favorite authors is not listed and feel compelled to add to my Need-to-Read list. (Bless you!)

Are you curious about my Best Reads lists over the years? Click on Year's Best to check out any of the lists from 2009 to 2021.

There is also a series of Author Interviews I've done, as well as recaps of author events I've attended at The Poisoned Pen over the years.

And what about those favorite posts of mine? Well, there's the series of posts I wrote about growing up in a small village library in central Illinois. I also did a lot of rambling in my Saturday Soliloquy posts where I could talk about anything from favorite television programs to favorite childhood books to walking the high street of an English village to reading in the gardens of Dunvegan Castle. Last but not least, I wrote a series of posts called Off the Beaten Path in which I wander from favorite place to favorite place, be it a desert trail, a house made of straw in the Sulphur Springs Valley, a tiny place on the north coast of Scotland, or an ancestral pile in Bradford, England (with plenty of other places thrown in).

Yes, there is more to Kittling: Books than just books, and I thought you might like a little road map to guide you to some of these other places.

  1. Well, I for one consult your lists of reviews by author and title. And sometimes by country of state. And I will continue to do so.
And I keep my eye on your "Best Reads" lists to see if I'm missing a book I'd like to read.
What organization. It makes it easy for your blog readers.

    1. I certainly hope it does-- as long as they know these resources are here!

  2. I really like the way you've put this together, Cathy. It's easy to navigate, richly informative, and well, fun. And it's nice that you've got it set up so that people can look for exactly what they want. In looking this over, I'd almost forgotten that you did interviews with authors and looks at their writing spaces. I really liked those features! But of course, I like all of the features of your blog...

    1. Thanks, Margot. I really need to resurrect my author interviews, especially since I have no Poisoned Pen event recaps to do. Even though I may attend future live events there, it's so easy to watch the videos on Facebook or Youtube that I won't go to the trouble of writing the recaps.

  4. Thank you for the reminders! I'm in the habit of coming to see the most-recent posts, and haven't been looking beyond those. I know I wasn't reading your blog in 2008, so I'm sure I'll find plenty to enjoy.

    1. Thanks, Kate. That's what I usually do with the blogs I follow, too-- just look at the most recent posts. I'll have to do some checking of my own.
