Odd how things can snowball. The guest bath that Daisy uses when she comes to visit is in dire need of a remodel. Somehow, we've gone from getting one bathroom done to something done in all three. I'm still not quite sure how that happened.
The first one to be scheduled is the shower in our bathroom. Come to find out, we've both been unhappy with the tile and just hadn't been saying anything to each other. In December, we'll be getting a new one with no tile, a couple of grab bars, an easy-step entry, a bench, a couple of shelves, a shower head, and a handheld shower wand. I feel as if we'll have a shower fit for royalty.
(NOT our remodel!) |
While we're waiting for that, we're still looking to get work done in the other bathrooms, especially Daisy's. (Sure would be nice to win the lottery 'bout now!)

Stay safe. Stay healthy. And don't forget to curl up with a good book!
Good lucck with the shower renovations. A friend brought me a shower bench some years ago after I had surgery, and I thank her every time I take a shower. It makes all the difference, especially for an aging person.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see that news about the statue in Mexico City. And I know what it's like to "grow up steeped in Jewishness." I often use Yiddish words because my mother often did so with us. But I surprise people when I use such words as my name is entirely Irish.
Anyway, thanks for the links. I'll return to read them all.
I've had a shower chair in our shower for a few years now. It makes all the difference when your knees and legs don't work properly.
DeleteYes. I couldn't shower without that 21-year-old bench. And I use it to dry clothes I have hand-laundered, too. It has many purposes.
DeleteOh, I hope you'll enjoy your new bathroom look, Cathy! It sounds as though it's going to be great. And I know just what you mean about the way home projects can spiral outward. You notice one thing, then another, then another... I hope you'll post 'photos and keep us updated. As for me, I'm off to the Temple of Zeus, and then to check out that Iron Age treasure!
ReplyDeleteI've had to promise everyone Before and After photos on Facebook. I would imagine I'll share one or two here. ;-)
DeleteGod luck with your bathroom renovations! Amazing how I newer look can make the area more hospitable. On to the links. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I just read about the deadly cassowary's in World of Wonders!
DeleteI've been close (with a fence between) to those birds, and they are scary. I can't imagine trying to domesticate them!
DeleteWe used to visit the quilt show in Houston every autumn to marvel at the craftsmanship of the quilters. Many of their creations were simply amazing.
ReplyDeleteAlso, one of my favorite bookstores in all the world is Murder by the Book, mentioned in your six mystery bookstores link. I concur that it is among the best.
If I'm ever that way, I fully intend to visit Murder by the Book.
DeleteCongrats on the bathroom renovations. We did something very similar five years ago, and the project managed to morph into a much larger one as we kept adding to our wish list. We are doing some work in the kitchen this year, and are waiting...and waiting...for everything to finally be available (including the labor) sometime in early December. The supply chain is well and truly a mess these days.
ReplyDeleteI found the library fines elimination article interest. Our system was charging ten cents per day per book pre-COVID and I'm not sure if they gone back to charging even that much yet. Since I live within 3 miles of the library and never check out more than three or four books on the same day (even though I usually have at least a dozen of them at home on any given day), the fines were never enough to act as any kind of determent. I like the idea of forgetting about those fines.
The other link that had me saying "yes" was the one on the sameness of book covers. The illustration they use is exactly the cover, and its variations, that irritate me the most, in fact. Makes me grumpy.
I've had enough friends on Facebook telling me that it's going to take the rest of my natural life to get these renovations done that I'm about to declare my page a Positivity Only Zone! LOL
DeleteI know what a hapax is! Now I have to see if your link is from the same source where I learned about it :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the renovations! Keep focused on how much you'll enjoy the end result!
I will-- once i get done moving everything out of those bathrooms!
DeleteCathy, Your bathroom project example pics look nice. It's funny how one small project can make everything else look bad when before you thought it was fine LOL
ReplyDeleteAin't that the truth!
