More Book Art for a Wednesday in March

Lynne Yancha's Amber in the Hay

This is another painting I love because of the memories it evokes. In fact, this could easily have been me instead of Amber, although my hair was darker and my companion was a puppy, not a kitten. (And the barn was on my best friend's farm.) To this day, I still love to bask in the sun with a book and stop occasionally to close my eyes and put myself in the story for a bit of daydreaming... or deductive reasoning.

  1. I have to admit, Cathy, I didn't grow up close enough to a barn to read in one, but this reminds me of the many reading hidey-holes I did have, and how comfortable you could get with a book.

    1. I think most readers had at least one hidey-hole when they were growing up!

  2. Oh, yes. This could have been me at my grandparent's house. They had a barn with a hayloft full of hay. My cousins, sister and I spent quite a bit of time there. If no one else was around, then I may have been likely to be there reading. I also remember sitting on the dock reading in the sunshine.
