February Is...

I think most of us would agree that Love of Reading is an everyday celebration, right? But it's nice that it has its own month.

Let's celebrate by drinking deep, whether it be Non-Fiction, Crime Fiction, Historical Fiction, Science Fiction, or the backs of cereal boxes. Reading is one of the very best things we can do for ourselves.

Celebrate the written word!

  1. Really! And it's a healthy addiction, no side effects except maybe from no sleep when one is up all night reading.

And it's handy, can carry a book or a kindle.

    1. It is interesting. It's going slowly because I've had to stop to read ARCs. Hopefully, I can pick it up again soon.

  3. Now that's a sentiment I can share, Cathy!! Love of reading is a balm for so many things, and it opens up new worlds. Speaking of books, I'll be interested in what you think of The Paris Library. I hope you're enjoying it.

  4. Here's to good books!

The more your read, the more you want to read. Now, if I can make sure and not neglect the actual people who live in my house and in my life :)

    Happy reading!

    1. I am very fortunate in that my life right now allows time for my passions without taking any time from loved ones. Both needs are nourished. :-)

  5. Yes, I agree and will attempt to comply! Reading contributes to good mental health for me....

  6. Reading is who I am. And that scares the hell out of me because I have macular degeneration in both eyes (luckily the slowest progressing type) and I can't imagine life without books.

    1. My grandmother had macular degeneration, and when it had progressed to the point where she couldn't read, my mother (who was the technical services librarian for the Arizona State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped--I think it has a new name now)set her up with audiobooks, and my grandmother loved them. I'm hoping that the same thing happens to me because right now, I just can't do audiobooks. Hopefully, my brain has a sea change when it knows there is no alternative.

  7. I love having a socially-acceptable addiction :)

And it has the beneficial side effect of gaining knowledge, especially when I have the mental capacity to concentrate on nonfiction (which I dearly hope will return to full strength once Covid is beaten into some form of submission).
