It's a tradition. Sometime in the dead of night, local yarn bombers transform the pier at Saltburn in the county of Yorkshire in England. Each year has a different theme, and my dear friend Angela goes there to photograph the creations they've made. Since 2018 has a book theme, she's letting me share her photos with all of you.
I thought I'd include a few links for you in case you didn't know what yarn bombing is, and also in case you wanted to see photos of one of the other themes these talented knitters have done.
But first, let's set the scene--

There was one that had us stumped, #17, but since the male figure appears to be wearing camouflage, the best we could come up with was War and Peace. What do you think? Is there a better choice? Speak up!
I wouldn't mind going to Saltburn every year to enjoy the yarn bombers' talents. Do you have any favorites of the ones I shared here? (No, I didn't show them all!) Which ones do you like? I numbered them just in case that would make it easier for you to share your preferences. Numbers 1, 3, and 14 are mine.
Thanks so much, Angela, for letting us escape to Yorkshire for a few minutes!
Oh, these are fantastic, Cathy! Absolutely amazing! I used to crochet, but I would never be able to put together something like this. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed seeing them, Margot.
DeleteI had not heard of yarn bombing and they are so very creative with their theme!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of it until a few years ago. (I think I saw something on Facebook.) Now I love looking at photos of the many things these creative people have done!
DeleteNever heard of or saw this. I am amazed at the creativity and skill shown here. Who would have thought of this?
ReplyDeleteI don't know the identity of the very first yarn bomber, but I'm glad he/she started it.
