The Betwixt & Between Weekly Link Round-Up

This week has gone the same route as last week-- plenty of appointments, though no more than two per day since I didn't want to tempt the Fates like we did last week.

However, this has been a week in which I've found myself "betwixt and between." As I was getting my teeth cleaned at the dentist, Mindy told me that she'd love to spend all day reading. I know she expected me to agree with her, but I shocked myself because I didn't. I don't want to spend all day reading, and the latest shipment you see on the right is one of several reasons why. There are just too many things that I enjoy doing. If I spent all day reading, I couldn't get out and about to photograph all sorts of things. I couldn't get much knitting done. And before you tell me I could listen to audiobooks while doing some of these things, I'll let you know that I've tried 'em, and I'm just not a fan.

The major reason why I found myself betwixt and between was with my reading, though. I normally read two books at once: one eBook which is what I read in bed before going to sleep every night, and one physical book. I made the mistake of choosing two barnburners to read at the same time: Anthony Horowitz's The Word Is Murder and Stephen King's The Outsider. Yowza! I finally had to make myself stick with one before I gave my eyeballs whiplash.  I suppose that's a very good quandary to be in, though-- don't you?

And from the noise outside, I'd better dash over to the corral before I find myself in an entirely different quandary. Head 'em up! Mooooooooooove 'em out!

  1. I like to have a little variety in my life, too, Cathy. Much as I adore reading - and I do - it's good to do other things, too. For now, though, I'll be reading that Revolutionary War journal...

  2. You can add me to the list of 'doing other things too' group. I thought that I would like to read all day long, but I really don't. And these days, I just can't sit that long - which is good for me. As you know, I have come to love books on audio and so that helps. You know, when I worked at the library, some people would say that they would love to work at a place where they had nothing to do but read - ha! As if! Who did they think shelved all those books and solved the problems at the circulation desk and got the new materials on the shelves, etc. Speaking of, I need to go get ready for my volunteer shift at the library - where I still shelve books. See ya!

    1. Yes. I've had a succession of jobs that were perceived in interesting ways by those who had never done them.

  3. Thanks. Over the summer (as I'm pooped now and don't like heat), I want to read, read, read, sit in a/c and sip iced tea and eat frozen yogurt.

Lots of easygoing books though. Love the activist list.
