The Bird's Eye View Weekly Link Round-Up

So far, it's been a very busy time here at Casa Kittling. Shopping, swimming, visiting zoos, gardens, museums, etc.-- and of this writing, there's still almost an entire week left of Daisy's visit.

You can see Daisy in the photo to the left on the day that she spent almost two hours zip-lining all over the Out of Africa Wildlife Park in Camp Verde, Arizona. She had a blast.

We still have a trip to Tucson planned, as well as stops at Butterfly Wonderland, OdySea Aquarium, and an afternoon at The Poisoned Pen attending CozyCon.

There are days when my computer has never been turned on and nights when I've fallen into bed well before midnight (when my normal bedtime is 3 AM). One day, Denis and I wore Daisy out so badly that she went to bed at 8:30 PM. We were rather proud of that even though we did go to bed rather early ourselves. Our young niece isn't the only person who's enjoying herself, and I hope we can put her on the plane to the UK filled with happy memories.

And on that note, it's time to head 'em up! Mooooooooooooove 'em out!

  • A lovely little video of Anna's hummingbirds from right here in the Sonoran Desert. If any of you have never heard what hummingbirds sound like, make sure your sound is turned on.
  • Puffin beaks are fluorescent, and they're not the only ones.
  • Germany's new Dackelmuseum (Dachshund Museum) is not just for the dogs.

  • An interview with author Eva Dolan concerning the women activists on the vanguard of crime fiction.
  • The original demon barber was French, and I love how this medieval Parisian Sweeney Todd was caught!
  • Brownie Wise, the ingenious marketer behind the Tupperware party.

  1. Wow, zip lining!! My daughter did that once, and she enjoyed it. I've never gotten the chance. So glad you're all enjoying yourselves, Cathy! And now I'm off to that temple...

  2. Daisy's my hero! I'm too afraid of heights to do that and as the saying goes, am "risk-averse." But good for her!

    Many good lists below.

    1. I won't tell you the adventure she had at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. We've just returned from touring the site of an old gold mine outside of Wickenburg. She goes home tomorrow evening. :-(
