You know me-- I'm always on the lookout for something new to read, and if that something new is written by a favorite author, that's icing on the cake. Moreover, since I am always on the lookout, I thought that I'd give you plenty of advance notice from time to time when I find some gems. Sound good? I thought so!
This time 'round, I found two jewels on the horizon, both written by Laura Bradford. One is the second book in her new Emergency Dessert Squad series, the other the first in the new Tobi Tobias series. Here's the scoop:
Available February 7, 2017! |
"When Tobi Tobias decided to open her own ad agency, having to moonlight in a pet shop wasn’t part of her vision . . . of course, neither was murder.
Sometimes when opportunity knocks, the door you open leads to a closet. That’s certainly the case for Tobi, whose weekends spent cleaning cages in her best friend’s pet shop may soon be over. She’s just landed her first big break—Zander Closet Company needs a catchy campaign slogan ASAP, and Tobi thinks she’s got the right hook to knock ’em dead: 'When we’re done, even your skeletons will have a place.'
But when a real dead body topples out of a showcase closet, she’s about to discover there is such a thing as bad publicity. To save her fledgling business and not get killed by the competition, Tobi takes on a new pet project: solving the murder. But with a stressed-out parrot as the only witness to the crime, Tobi will really have to wing it to put the cagey killer behind bars."
Good thing those feathers on the cover aren't blue, or I'd be having an entire Monty Python sketch rambling through my brain! This first-in-a-new-series is available on eBook only, according to Amazon.

Here's the synopsis:
"Baker Winnie Johnson does her best work when the heat is on. As owner of the Emergency Dessert Squad, she has a deft touch in the kitchen and a soft spot for lost causes. So when her business professor beau Jay Morgan expresses misgivings over having to fail one of his fourth-year students, Winnie cooks up a sweet solution.
She’ll offer an extra credit opportunity in exchange for a little help with her growing business. But when her protégé’s first dessert delivery poisons a student journalist, the publicity threatens to burn Winnie’s business to a crisp. Now the entrepreneur-turned-detective must uncover the ingredients behind a recipe for murder before she crumbles under pressure..."
According to Amazon, The Silence of the Flans will be available in both eBook and mass market paperback formats. I've already been told that Laura is planning to be here in Arizona to promote her books, so something tells me that Daisy will be getting another signed copy!
I hope you're looking forward to these books as much as I am. Now... it's time for me to look for something new to read!
Oh, Bradford does sound interesting, Cathy! I admit I've not tried her work yet, but I can see why your interest is piqued. If you do read one of her books, I'll be interested in knowing what you think.
