This weekend, I thought I'd share a photo with you that was taken at the Butterfly Pavilion at the Desert Botanical Garden here in Phoenix. In the fall, Monarch butterflies are the stars, and I have to admit, there's something mesmerizing about them.

I love how you capture one in shade and one in the sunshine :)
ReplyDeleteI happened to be in the right place at the right time!
DeleteBrona Joy is right ... that dappled effect is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThere were quite a few neat effects with the lighting in the Butterfly Pavilion that day.
DeleteI love butterflies...and when I see the Monarchs, I am reminded of the child's picture book by Leo Politi: The Butterflies Come, the story of their journey to a California coastal town.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...and here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST
I remember that book!
DeleteThey look like they were lined up for you.
ReplyDelete"Oooh, Clyde, here she comes! Get ready for your close-up!"
DeleteCathy - Oh, that is absolutely stunning! Such great light effects and I do love butterflies. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Margot!
DeleteGorgeous creatures!
ReplyDeleteI love butterflies too and these two look as though they're made of stained glass - another favourite of mine. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous, and how lucky you are that they posed so nicely for you! My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/xybNM
ReplyDeleteWe had good timing that day. Many of them were newcomers and were concentrating on basking in the sun to get their strength up. :-)
DeleteGorgeous photo!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Holly!
DeleteWhat a great shot! Two butterflies for the price of one. I'm still waiting to be lucky enough to capture one on film. They fly away so quick.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Snapshot.
I agree, Bev. Photographing butterflies takes a LOT of patience!
DeleteI so enjoy reading your post about places in Arizona. My son and family live in the Phoenix area too. Makes me feel close to them. You have a great photo of the butterflies. Well done!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for that wonderful warm fuzzy!
DeleteButterflies are so graceful, so pretty. Our museum has an annual summer butterfly exhibit, we always go, it's so love. Nice photo!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I enjoy them so much that we refuse to miss one!
DeleteSuch a beauty! Butterflies are always a happy sight! I can't wait to have ours back next year. :)
ReplyDeleteI sit out on my patio almost every afternoon. I haven't seen any butterflies for the past week. I miss them!
DeleteLovely, I like butterflies too.
ReplyDeleteWhat's sad is to be at the Butterfly Pavilion when school children are there and see some of the children who are petrified of them because they've never seen one before. :-(
DeleteThe Monarch Butterfly has captivated me since I was a kid. I can spot one a mile away and stop whatever I'm doing to watch them as long as I can.
ReplyDeleteThere's always been something very special about Monarchs.
