The Triple Digit Weekly Link Round-Up

I'm not calling this the "triple digit" link round-up because I have tons of links for you. I'm calling it that because it's supposed to reach 113° F. (45° C.) today. We have yet to turn on the air conditioning even though it was 109° yesterday, so let's see what happens!

My Nook Color cover
Yesterday Denis and I went to see "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel"-- a movie with a sublime ensemble cast that only the British seem able to put together. We gave it four thumbs up, so if you get a chance, please do see it.

Other than that, it's been rather a quiet week here. I've been plotting and planning, but nothing to share yet. I've been stitching in the evenings and am about to send another handmade goody to the UK. I'm about to finish up a needlepoint gift bag, and if it turns out well, I'm golng to be designing templates for various sizes of that. This first one is rather small, and you know I'd have to make a book-sized one! Speaking of books and stitching, I thought I'd let you see the completed cover I made for my Nook Color. When I began stitching the first piece, I had to unpick it three times because the stitch and the yarn were fighting each other, and I realized that the yarn had to win. The completed article reminds me of zebras and tigers... Oh my!

Links, links... where are the links?  Here they are!

Bookish News & Other Interesting Stuff
  • One of the best crime fiction writers ever-- Reginald Hill-- will be celebrated during Crime Writing Month. If you haven't read any of his books, treat yourself.
  • Some of you have become rather batty over "Sherlock's" scintillating Benedict Cumberbatch. (I like him, too. I'm just not batty over him.) Hopefully you'll get a chuckle from this: Otters Who Look Like Benedict Cumberbatch.  *giggle*
  • I love it when wits get together and explain book blurbs to me:  Blurbese: "a ________ debut."
  • If, like me, you like to mix your mystery books with mysteries on television, take a look at PBS's Masterpiece Mystery! Summer schedule.
  • Lifetime Television is developing a series around FBI profiler Clarice Starling, who was introduced in Thomas Harris's second Hannibal Lector novel, The Silence of the Lambs.
  • For a little bling, how about an article about Israeli archaeologists finding rare ancient jewelry?

    1. It was 112° yesterday, and we *still* haven't turned on the AC. It seems as though Denis has finally acclimated!
