It's the middle of October here in the Sonoran Desert, and we're still flirting with triple digits. Fortunately I don't mind because the humidity is so low. It would be nice if we got more than a sniff of rain, though!
It's been another quiet week here at Casa Kittling, with me attempting to make cranberry oatmeal bread from scratch (success) and participating in my first-ever blog tour. Next week, I'd like to charge up my camera batteries and visit the Water Ranch again, or perhaps go further afield to the Boyce-Thompson Arboretum. We shall see.
Speaking of seeing, let's get to those links!
Bookish Links & Other Fun Stuff
- The UK's Daily Mail reports that a survey shows the average Briton owns 80 books which they haven't read but are there only to make them look more intellectual. (I say at least the books are there, and they just might pick one up and crack it open. Better to have than to have not!)
- Hard Choices: Do Libraries Really Destroy Books?
- Arizona Public Media featured my favorite indie bookseller, Win Bundy, of the Singing Wind Bookshop outside Benson, Arizona.
- Finally! A sequel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice that I can't wait to get my hands on: P.D. James' Death at Pemberley! (And not a zombie in sight.)
- Dear Publishers, please don't pull a Netflix!
- A frustrated author threw his book away and then was amazed to find it being sold on Amazon.
