I Gotta Find a New Way to Celebrate

When all is said and done, I'd say my choice of illustration is fairly accurate to the way I feel. Denis and I somehow managed to get food poisoning Wednesday evening-- mine much more violent than his, for which I'm thankful. Once I'd finally finished talking on the great white telephone to God, the most energetic thing I could do was sleep. All day Thursday. And then I called out sick at work for Friday, which shocked the manager into silence. (It's been so long since I've called out that no one can remember the year, let alone the exact date.) Today I toddled in, feeling weak and shaky, found out that they'd brought in a replacement "just in case", so I staggered back home.

For a while, I was sitting here trying to wade through well over one thousand blog posts in my Reader, and finding that most of them were year end "Best of" and reading accomplishment lists. With only one slightly guilty qualm, I marked everything read and decided there wouldn't be a Weekly Link Round-Up, and I went to bed.

I'm still feeling weak and blah, and I've come to yet another epiphany. Not only do I not have to do a Weekly Link Round-Up, I don't even have to blog. Period. For a whole week. I've blogged almost every single day for over a year, and I've decided to take a vacation. I'm going to rest up until I feel like something closely resembling homo sapiens, and when I do feel like my ornery self, I'm going to conduct my own private Bloggiesta. I've been working on some goodies that are going nowhere because I've roped myself into thinking I've got to crank out that next blog post. Yeah. Told ya I'm not always the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

I'm worn out just typing this little bit of nothing, so--- See you in a week with a whole new (and healthier) outlook on the world!

  3. Oh no, Cathy! I'm so sorry you got food poisoning. I'm glad your boss thought to call in a replacement for you today. You need more rest!

I think a break is a good idea. I'm actually taking one this next week too, although you have better reason for it than I do. :-)

Take care of yourself, Cathy! Enjoy your time away from the blogosphere!

  7. Oh Cathy -- I am so sorry you have been so sick. Take as much time as you need to feel better and fully relaxed. We will all understand.

You are still funny even though you are feeling so puny --- I am still giggling over the expression "not the brightest bulb in the chandelier" :)
