Going Through Some Old Family Photos

I was sifting through some papers when I came across this old photo on the left. Meet Mable and Fred Wickline. The photo was taken sometime in the 1890s.

Now... see the photo to the right? This is of my cousin, Stan Brookshier, and was taken in the late 1960s when he was a Marine serving in Vietnam.

You can click on the photo of Fred and Mable to view it full size, but even without doing so, I think you can tell that those two men-- although almost 80 years separate them-- are most definitely related! Coming across that photo of the older couple reminded me of seeing these two photos when I was a teenager. This was the first thing that fueled my interest in genetics.

Strange how that happens, isn't it?

  3. I love looking through old photos like that. The last time I was at my parents doing that, some of the pictures "fell" into my suitcase.

  4. Wonderful!

I have only one photo of my grandmother as a teenager, but she definitely looks like me and my daughters at the same age :D
