After spending a blissful couple of days up in the mountains and then coming home from work today in the midst of a downpour and having to slosh into the house, I'm just finding it tough to get back in gear. I'm sure you've all had the same problem. No matter how good your life may be, sometimes your mind gets tired of the status quo and wants to go walkabout. But I digress. Let's see what sort of links I found on the days I did have Internet access....
Books, Movies & Other News
- The Times Online has an article about one of my favorite writers, Val McDermid. If you haven't read her novel A Place of Execution, you're missing out!
- September 21 is the premiere of the second season of Castle, starring Nathan Fillion. Fellow crime fiction readers will be interested to know that the episode features a cameo appearance by Michael Connelly.
- Cormac McCarthy's The Road was one of my Top Ten reads a couple of years ago. You can now take a look at five scenes from the movie adaptation. (This should interest any Viggo Mortenson fans out there.)
- The Telegraph talks about 50 Things That Are Being Killed by the Internet.
- Publishers are beginning to cancel books to cut costs.
- Want to know which authors can be found on Twitter? Here's one list, and a second one, too!
- Natalie of Book, Line, and Sinker has an excellent post about StumbleUpon, Technorati and other social media sites.
- Amanda Fazani of the fabulous Blogger Buster has a new site called Gadgets for Blogger. Feast your eyes on the goodies, but be careful! Don't add too many or the page load time for your blog will definitely suffer.
- Kathy of Bermudaonion's Weblog is thinking about community.
- Rebecca of Lost in Books talks about blog post turn ons and turn offs.
- Sheila of One Person's Journey Through a World of Books wonders what fellow book bloggers use to keep track of their book happenings.
- Kristi of The Story Siren talks about blogging etiquette.
- J. Kaye of J. Kaye's Book Blog talks about what she will and will not do to promote books. Sometimes you just have to spell it out. In capital letters.
- Amy of My Friend Amy was recently exposed to the dark side of Twitter.
- Beth of Beth Fish Reads brings up a topic that's been on my mind lately: should she keep her blog roll...or lose it?
Good heavens! With this list you'd never guess that I had no Internet connection for a couple of days, would you? Stop by next Sunday to see what else I've gleaned for your reading pleasure!
I know how you feel. My kids go back to school tomorrow and it makes me feel a little depressed to be going back to the normal routine.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Natalie's post about Technorati. I have now joined it.
Thanks for a great round up.
I love September and the fall! It always makes me think of new beginnings (too many years in school, I guess).
ReplyDeleteGuess which link I clicked first. I'll give you a hint: starts with V and ends iggo!
I also appreciate the authors on Twitter lists.
Thanks so much for the link to my post, and I have a lot here to explore.
