If I'd decided to post a few more books on my Paperback Swap bookshelf last week, I probably would still be on my More Out Than In streak. But...I was hit head-on by some nasty sort of germs that almost had me down for the count.
Still, last week's results weren't all that bad: 1 book out to a new foster home courtesy of Paperback Swap, and 2 books in from the same source. Here are the two books that arrived in my mailbox last week:
--Mama Does Time by Deborah Sharp (PBS). "Meet Mama: a true Southern woman with impeccable manners, sherbet-colored pantsuits, and four prior husbands, able to serve sweet tea and sidestep alligator attacks with equal aplomb. Mama's antics — especially her penchant for finding trouble — drive her daughters Mace, Maddie, and Marty to distraction. One night, while settling in to look for ex-beaus on COPS, Mace gets a frantic call from her mother. This time, the trouble is real: Mama found a body in the trunk of her turquoise convertible and the police think she's the killer. It doesn't help that the handsome detective assigned to the case seems determined to prove Mama's guilt or that the cowboy who broke Mace's heart shows up at the local Booze ‘n' Breeze in the midst of the investigation. Before their mama lands in prison — just like an embarrassing lyric from a country-western song — Mace and her sisters must find the real culprit. "
--Dust to Dust by Beverly Connor (PBS). "A woman dies under suspicious circumstances, supposedly after finding evidence of her incarcerated brother's innocence. Now to prove a possible murder, Diane Fallon must root through the victim's family secrets-and the many skeletons in her closet." I goofed on this one. I thought it was the first in the series, and it's the seventh. I might send this on to the next person on the list and wait to get the first in the series. I tend to like mysteries with a forensic anthropology twist.
That's it for my week! If you'd like to see the books other bloggers received in their mailboxes last week, click on that redhead in the flirty skirt at the top of this post. You'll be taken to the home of Mailbox Monday: Marcia's The Printed Page. Thanks so much for hosting this fun meme, Marcia!
It's not about quantity its about quantity and quality! LOL
ReplyDeleteYou've got some good books. Happy reading.
Hey it could have been worse, must worse. You're up only 1.
ReplyDeleteI got 2 books last week too, but I didn't get rid of any, so you did better than I did.
ReplyDeleteThree for me this week.
ReplyDeleteHey, your blog looks great! When did you change it?
I'm such a Paperback Swap junkie ... I finally used up all my credits so I had to go through and post some "sure fire" winners to get some more. I feel naked without any credits ... that is always when I start getting my wishes granted!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good week to me :-). I should look into the Beverly Connor series.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool blog! I'm honored to have my funny mystery, MAMA DOES TIME, among the books you've welcomed into your home this Monday. And I LOVE the idea of Paperbook Swap ... I'm going to find out more. I've got lots of books just itching to find a good home.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Deborah Sharp (author of ''Mama Does Time,'' and the second in the series, out this summer, ''Mama Rides Shotgun.'')
I came to comments to gush about Mama Does Time. It looks so funny that I've added it to my wish list. But then I saw the author's comment and I want to take it back. She'll think I'm just sucking up.
ReplyDeleteI guess you are feeling a little better since I see a few posts here. Hope that's true.

ReplyDeleteI don´t know why I haven´t thought about that before, but I absolutely love the idea of a body in the trunk of a turquoise convertible.
