Best Monday Morning Wake-Up Comment

I'm one of these folks who takes a long time to wake up, so I wasn't ready for prime time when I sat down at the computer this morning shortly after 4 AM.

Here I sat, munching from a bowl of granola and reading my email. Everything was normal until I read a comment Blodeuedd had left on my Mailbox Monday post: "Congrats on the shortlisting at BBAW!"

I hadn't forgotten all about Book Blogger Appreciation Week and the fact that the short lists were going to be announced today. Even I'm not that groggy in the morning, but Blodeuedd certainly made me hotfoot it over to the BBAW site where I found that I was in the running for two awards.

I had to sit here and look at that for a while because I thought I was reading it wrong. I thought I might have a chance for one. But two? Wow. Maybe I need a swig of something besides Ocean Spray Crangrape right now.

It is true, though. I'm in the running for two awards: Best Thriller/Mystery/ Suspense Blog and Best Series or Feature for Scene of the Blog.

I was honored to be nominated for anything at all, but to have my selections of posts be scrutinized and to make the short list on two? I'm still not quite sure what I should say. Honored and thrilled doesn't quite cut it.

Now's the time when I should beg you to head on over to the voting booth and vote for Kittling: Books. Might even throw in a bribe like turning Skype on and tap dancing on my desk. But I'm not going to. You either will or you won't, and I have very little say in the matter-- which is as it should be.

You don't have to be a book blogger to vote, and you have two ways of getting to the voting booth to take a look at the nominees and think about voting. You can either (1) click on the official Book Blogger Appreciation Week logo at the top right of this page, or (2) you can click on the sexy librarian at the top of this post.

At the end of the day, it's really not about winning awards. It's about all of you taking the time to read what I have to say. So many of you show up everyday to read my posts. For me, that is the award. Your loyalty and readership are what make me continue to share one of my greatest addictions (passions) in a very public forum.

Thank you-- from the bottom of my heart.

  1. Well deserved, congrats! I love Scene of the Blog, it's such a fun feature. I like your "Nominated For" buttons as well -- did you make them or are they on the BBAW site?

  10. Congratulations and thank you so much for stopping by my place to say the same. This is kind of great isn't it? But as you say, the winning is not the important part. I feel like I have been handed a little gift just in clicking through the shortlists and finding new reads like you. Hope you are sleeping in! Good luck.

  12. Congratulations on your well-deserved nominations!

I hope you are going to win, but as you say, at the end of the day it doesn´t make any difference to your wonderful blog.

Have you ever considered calling it "Cathy´s Cute Buttons" by the way ;D

  17. Congratulations on your two nominations. You are so deserving of them both. I actually thought you should have been short-listed for the best writing as well but I don't always get what I want. Good luck to you.

  18. First - Congratulations, Cathy! I'm not surprised at all that you're shortlisted for these two awards. You know how you've been responsible for adding way too many mysteries to my TBR. And I love your Scene of the Blog feature - it's so much fun!

Second - you get up at 4:00 am?? No wonder it takes you a while to wake up. I'd be napping at 8:00 am if I got up at 4:00 am ...
