You've probably noticed that I'm not very chatty with my links this week. I seem to have picked up some sort of bug that I intend to keep to myself. I'm going to go to bed with Pat Conroy's South of Broad. By page 64, I was in love, so I'm hoping Conroy will work his magic and make me forget that I don't feel well! See you next week with more links!
I hope you are feeling better soon, Cathy. Thanks for the links. I wasn't able to get around the blogosphere much this week and these weekly round ups are pretty useful for a quick peek at what I missed.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't realized reading decreased stress by so much. I guess I'd better start reading more!
Have a great week, Cathy.
Feel better soon, Cathy. I am eagerly awaiting to hear your thoughts on the Conroy book, which I am looking forward to read!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Conroy will do the trick! Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the link about the great old woman who reads 12 books a week :D
12 books a week? Sheesh, is her name Harriet? ha ha
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better real soon. Thanks for the links. I always find something really neat that I missed.
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp ... sounds like Dark Shadows will be a winner. Thanks for the inside info!
ReplyDeleteI loved Dark Shadows when I was a kid. My mom wouldn't let me watch it, we lived on a farm and since she was out milking cows with my dad when it was on, I'd run through my chores as fast as I could and try to get as much done as possible, sneak around the front of the house through the front door, watch Dark Shadows and then go back out to the calf barn where I raised the baby calves. Then I'd saunter out of the barn to the milk house like I'd been in there the whole time, cleaning pens, etc.
ReplyDeleteI'm a mom now...what do you bet she knew all about my sneakiness....kids are never as sneaky as they think they are!!
I sure hope you feel better, soon, Cathy.
ReplyDeleteTaking Pat Conroy to bed is a good thing. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWendy--I think that's why I'm feeling better...I increased my reading time! :)
ReplyDeleteLouise--I've got about 100 pages left. It's typical Conroy: beautifully written, with characters you're compelled to read about.
Beth--Thanks!
Dorte--I think that woman is my hero!
Kaye--I'm glad you find my links useful. :)
Dawn--Those two in conjunction with Dark Shadows made my ears perk up, too!
Kelly--I'll bet she knew exactly what you were doing. Moms are like that. :)
Susan--I am. Thanks!
Wisteria--I have been. South of Broad is typical Pat Conroy.
Hey Cathy,
ReplyDeleteI ran across your blog and saw that you mentioned "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters" and "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" in your Weekly Link Round-Up. I hope you get a chance to read both. Granted, my opinion may be skewed because I work for the publisher, but, nonetheless, I think you'll love them. Because you're obviously into books, I was wondering if you wanted to receive info and updates about the Quirk Classics series. If you do, just send us an email at QuirkClassics@gmail.com.
FYI: We’re announcing a new title in the series at the end of the month, so you might want to stay tuned for a message about Quirk Classic #3.
Thanks for talking about our books, and happy reading!
-KG
P.S. - I hope you enjoyed Conroy's new book!
