Weekly Link Round-Up

It's a holiday weekend. Denis and I are working. We're both enjoying the pool. I've found a new blog template that I'm modifying. Denis is with Duncan and Gemma in England, and I'm with Inspector Montalbano in Sicily. Let's see what the Link Genie has in her bag of tricks this Sunday....

Books in the News
  • There's a bookstore in Cairo, Egypt that promotes diversity in the wide range of books it offers its customers.
  • Speaking of bookstores, have you seen the one in England that's housed on a narrowboat in England?
  • Any Castle fans out there? ABC has decided to promote the mystery series with a tie-in book titled Heat Wave.
  • Fitting for the Fourth of July weekend, here's a list of 10 Books Every American Should Read.
  • While I'm on the subject of lists, Newsweek just came out with its Top 100 Books list that seems to be a bit different from other top 100 lists I've seen.
  • If you're an Edith Wharton fan like I am, you might find this New Yorker article interesting about her correspondence with her governess.
Conversations in the Book Blogosphere
  • Trish of Hey Lady! Whatcha Readin'? wants to know How Should an Author Handle Negative Reviews? This was a timely discussion for me since I had an author comment on my not-so-glowing review. Fortunately, she was very nice about it!
  • Natalie of Book, Line, and Sinker wants to know when it's time to give up on a series. This was triggered by the release of Janet Evanovich's Finger Lickin' Fifteen.
  • Dawn of She Is Too Fond of Books has a fun stress test for us.

  1. I have to say though Finger Licking 15 was great, her best for awhile. But I read the post and got her point. I only read the book because my mum bought it and lent it to me. I was on the verge of giving up. Some authors can keep a series fresh, but its a rare thing.

    Great round up.

  2. I always look forward to this Weekly Links post and spend quite a bit of time exploring the links. But then I forget to come back and say thanks. So - thank you for all the interesting and helpful links.

  3. Caspette--I've heard that #15 is her best in a while, and that's good news, although I'm still going to wait for it to arrive from Paperback Swap!

    Margot--You're very welcome!

  4. Thanks so much for the link! If you'd hadn't I never would have found your site (or at least have taken longer in doing so) - but one click from my stats and I'm really enjoying catching up on all you've written!
