6 Unimportant Things That Make Me Happy

Jenny of Jenny Loves to Read recently tagged me with this meme, and here are the six things that first popped into my mind. I purposely didn't let my mind wander into anything remotely smacking of my husband because nothing that concerns him is unimportant to me! I won't tag anyone else, but if you do decide to play along, please come back and leave a comment here so I can come check out your answers!

Few things can make me happier than going out into the desert after plentiful winter rains and seeing acre upon acre of wildflowers. It's so beautiful that I've been known to get tears in my eyes.

Give me a lap full of puppies, and I'm one happy camper. This photo was taken when I was five and had more pups than lap!

Unpaved roads. Little did I know that I would take Robert Frost at his word: "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference." I've seen more beauty by getting off the pavement!

A bright idea that hits like a bolt out of the blue-- like turning this closet that did nothing but gather junk into an entertainment center that gave me back several square feet of my family room!

Maps. I can pore over the things for hours, and it's even better when I have one in hand while exploring a place like the ancient market town of Alnwick in Northumberland, England.

Clouds. One of the things I like to do in the summer while I'm sitting in the pool is to watch the thunderheads of a monsoon storm build in the sky.

  1. Nice post. There's a man at work who hates puppies. I don't trust him at all.

  2. This was a lot of fun to read, but I think all of those things are important if they make you happy.

  3. I love the wildflowers too. I think people in the desert just start craving that color after a while!

  4. A lap full of puppies - YEP - that makes me giggle with glee.

We have been fortunate enough to have 3 litters of yellow lab pups, and each and every single one of those puppies brought us such joy. I look forward to the day when we have another litter frolicking around the yard.

  5. Your lap of puppies looks like a photo that I have of myself at approximately the same age. Am I dating myself???

I love looking at the clouds as well especially since it was something I would do with my mom.

  6. Love this post. And Alnwick is a lovely place to visit, isn't it?

    That pup pic is wonderful!

  7. Cathy I think we are kindred spirits.
First it was the love of things old, abandoned houses.
I will always take the back road to wherever I'm going - it's so much more interesting! We have a number of roads in our area that just close in the winter - they lead to wonderful spots - dead ending down by a river. And I love perusing maps. Lately it's finding all the tiny tiny islands in the middle of nowhere.

  8. Bernadette-- I wouldn't either!

Kathy--I agree with you. Happiness sometimes needs to take a backseat to other events in life, but it's never unimportant.

Rhapsody--I must be weird. I'm always seeing color in the desert. Maybe I'm hallucinating...?

Molly--You're making me want to Find. Puppies. NOW! LOL

Wisteria--You couldn't possibly be dating yourself! I didn't date myself when I posted the photo! :o)

Kit--My Pup Pic seems to be spreading happiness today. Good! I love visiting Alnwick (especially Barter Books). An ancestor once was employed at the castle in a doff-the-cap-tug-the-forelock capacity.

    Thanks, Charlie!

Luanne--It does seem that we are. One of the things I love about the internet is the power to find kindred spirits from around the globe.

  9. That was fun to read. I know very few people who love to read maps. It's nice to know that about you. I love to read them also.

  11. Margot--Wonderful! I'm so glad I've met another map reader. Most people look at me as if I were nuts!

Beth--These are my favorite kind of pills!
