Scene of the Blog-- Kathy of Bermudaonion's Weblog!

It gives me great pleasure to feature Kathy this week. She is such an asset to the book blogging community. Kathy is always ready to extend the hand of friendship, she's always willing to help, and she always has an encouraging word. If you haven't checked out her blog, Bermudaonion's Weblog, what are you waiting for? You've just got to meet this South Carolinian!

For some strange reason, Kathy thinks her blogging space is cluttered and unattractive. I've been teasing her about "putting her out of her misery" on Twitter, and she's been good-naturedly putting up with my teasing. I thought it was more than time that my actions matched my words. Let's take a look at Kathy's "cluttered" blogging space! (Click on the photos to view them full size.)

Kathy's desk

Here's what Kathy has to say about her space:

I'm a pretty organized person and don't like clutter at all - there is very little on my kitchen counters - yet, my blogging space always looks like this. I didn't clean it up at all for the pictures. It is the only place in the house that looks like this.

Kathy's blogging space--look at those books!

All I've got to say is: if you think your blogging space is cluttered, Kathy, whatever you do--don't look at mine! Perhaps you don't like those stacks of books by your desk, but I love them. I take a look at them and immediately want to sit on the floor and start going looking at all the titles!

If you'd like to see the other book bloggers who have been featured on Scene of the Blog so far, or if you'd like to know how to participate, click here.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Sheri of A Novel Menagerie for my new Scene of the Blog button!

  2. My eyes were drawn immediately to the books!! And are those Longaberger baskets?

  3. My space is a mess too and I'm pretty organized as well. I just can't take the time to constantly organize it. Kathy's space isn't messy at all -- trust me!

  4. Lenore - the basket with the pens and pencils is a Longaberger the other one is a look-a-like. This space stays a mess!

  5. Yikes!!! I wish my office looked this clean. I had to do mega straightening up before I took pictures of my space. And even then, I think the dust shows up in the photos!!!

Kathy, I love your space -- it looks like a super place to blog from. And I see TweetDeck on the screen!!

  6. Kathy, I think your space is quite neat! My space is in my kitchen, which is the biggest room in our townhouse and has unfortunately become a storage space. I'd love to know how you keep your kitchen counters bare, btw. I'd settle for clean, but uncluttered would be great, too. :)

  7. I think your desk is really very neat, Kathy! It's certainly more so than my desk has possibly ever been. It looks like everything is perfectly in its place. And I really want to have a look at your books!

  8. Kathy--it looks great! I've thought about taking pictures of mine as well, but since my niece moved in last October, (just until she finds a place....arrgh....) my desk in in the family room, and I have books stashed in three bedrooms, the hallway, the living room, with some overflow to the family room, and occasionally the kitchen counter. (Double arrgh....)

On the other hand, I use a very cool old library table as my desk...so it might be worth showing!

Cathy--I love your blog!! I couldn't believe the snarky comment on your Amazon review! I thought it was a pretty good review! But then, I'm sort of struggling with Drood. And I just loved The Terror. Go figure....

  9. There is stuff on the desk but it's all neat and tidy. When I see neat and tidy I typically don't think clutter :)

I love that the books are there too. My shelves are upstairs in the loft which is where the kids hang out so I don't write there evah!

  10. I wish my office looked that clean! Hubby mainly uses now that I have the laptop and can sit wherever I please so it's always a mess lol!

  11. I am for sure never taking a picture of where my books live again if this is considered messy! She'd never talk to me again! :P

  12. Don't feel so bad about my stacks of books now! What a neat place to work! I have to get my pictures to you, but I may be embarrassed now that I've seen Kathy's space.

  13. Another nice post - and I shall go to Bermudaion´s blog immediately to tell her how uncluttered her world is :)
My son once uttered the famous words, "reading stuff is not clutter". I think all you bloggers should take his wise words to heart; they really do help a lot.

  14. There may be a lot of stuff there, but it looks pretty organized to me! Thanks for sharing pictures of your space Kathy!

  15. Oooh, the comment about sitting on the floor and looking through all those lovely books, struck a chord!

I'll be next in line to have a good rummage!

  16. How fun to see where Kathy sits when she is creating all those great reviews and other super posts.

Cathy - I have not read your Amazon review but I am always amazed at the rudeness some people can exhibit. I hope you are going to tell us what you did.

  17. This is such a fun weekly event!

  18. haha! I don't think it was that cluttered either, it seemed like everything was in it's own spot and you know where everything is.

Love the pile of books on the left!

  19. Okay Kathy - you'll be hearing an echo here - it's not messy at all!! I find the colours cool and calming and your desk looks organized to me!! But the best part is those piles of book!! Thanks for sharing your space with us.

  20. Kathy is incredibly organized...maybe she would like to take a trip northward to dc and organize my space...lol or my apartment for that matter...there are only two of us and a dog and two cats in it, but we are messy people...lol

  21. lol Kathy, I'm never showing you my work space. It's a disaster. Yours is so neat and organized. What a great feature-it was fun to see where you blog from.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, that is NOT cluttered! I like how she has all her books stacked up.

  23. This is such a great idea for a feature! :) And I love Kathy's work space -- it's absolutely nice and neat looking to me. I agree with lots of other folks -- mine is just a tumble of disorganized chaos! And if you count my desk at work as a "blog space," too (sshh!), then you'd really be surprised at the clutter!

  24. I'm like Kathy - I just hate clutter (in any form) but especially in my workspace. Having said that, mine is WAY cleaner than my husbands!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Okay - everyone's invited over to come look through my books! This was so much fun - if you haven't sent pictures of your work space to Cathy, you need to do it soon. Maybe she'll torture you on Twitter for a few weeks, too!

  26. Hi Cathy,
Love your new button! It's cute! I went and checked out Kathy's place. Pretty interesting place to visit! Have a great evening!

  27. If only my workspace were this cluttered, I would never have to clean it up!

  28. Thanks for the peek into BermudaOnion's office. I wish Milou was there!

  29. Cathy, this is such a neat feature! Thanks for starting it, I love seeing everyone's blogging space!

I also wanted to let you know I've nominated you and your blog for an award here.

  30. Kathy, I love your workspace! I wish I had room for books in my office. My bookcases are all on the second floor. (My bedroom looks like a library with a bed in it.)

  31. Where's the clutter - I can't see it. If you want to see clutter take a look at mine. Oh no you can't as I haven't sent in a photo. I share a desk with my husband anyway so it would have to be a photo of just my area. I'm very untidy and am surrounded by books, notebooks, files, camera and paper, etc, etc. You can't see the desk except for a small space for the keyboard and my hands as I type. I can't work any other way. It does get difficult when my cat wants to sit on the keyboard though. Maybe if I tidied up a bit I might take a photo ...

  32. Kathy, your space is very organized, if you ask me. Love your stacks of books beside the desk. :)

Cathy, Love these Scenes of the Blog.. I just stumbled upon your blog today through Matt.. I'll be browsing through all the Scenes very shortly. :)

  33. What they all said- this is CLUTTER? You are SO not invited to my house.

  34. I just love this feature and love the new button!! Thanks for sharing your blogging space with us Kathy. I agree, it looks pretty neat and organized to me!! I love the stacks of books and that they are right next to your space.

  35. I haven't yet sent in my "scene of the blog" photo because my desk is such a mess!

Kathy - this is NOT cluttered!

Aside from LOTS of paper (my stuff and the kids), my to-be-reviewed books are in a pile to nag/remind me to get that done.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well, that is the most organized clutter I've ever seen! I don't think she had anything to worry about!

And I love the new button!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Kathy looks pretty clean to me. Wow are all those to be read books? You have nothing to worry about. Don't look here its a mess :)

  38. Kelly--I have to admit that that particular comment threw me for a loop for a moment, but it doesn't pay to have a thin skin in this world!

Margot--if you read my Drood review here on my blog, then you've read my Amazon review as well. After being stunned for a minute or two, I noticed that two people had already commented that his remarks added nothing to the conversation. I checked the same box, and left it at that. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion!

Melissa--thank you for the award! I've posted about it.

Claire--I'm glad you found me and enjoy the feature! Matt stunned me a bit when he posted it on his own blog!
