Michael Connelly is one of my all-time favorite writers who's created one of my all-time favorite characters (Harry Bosch). I well remember wandering the aisles of a bookstore here in Phoenix and idly picking up and then buying a copy of his first novel, The Black Echo. I hadn't even finished reading it when I went back to the bookstore and bought the next two in the series.
With that kind of track record, you know I had to go out and pop a couple of wheelies on the driveway when I found out that there was a new Ballard & Bosch novel on the horizon. Let me tell you more about it!

Synopsis:
"Renée Ballard and the LAPD’s Open-Unsolved Unit get a hot shot DNA
connection between a recently arrested man and a serial rapist and
murderer who went quiet twenty years ago. The arrested man is only
twenty-three, so the genetic link must be familial. It is his father who
was the Pillowcase Rapist, responsible for a five-year reign of terror

As soon as I read the title of your post, Cathy, this one went onto my wish list. What a great idea for a setup for a novel, too! I really hope to see Maddie 'star' in her own book/series someday, and this sounds like a good start!

DeleteIf so, I hope Maddie doesn't have to go through what Renee Ballard did with a rapist/murderer. I can't get that scene out of my mind. Don't want to read it about Maddie. Maybe she could do corporate financial crime. But, no, Connelly will want her in action.

DeleteConnelly is one of my favorite authors also (no surprise there), so his newsletter is one of the few that I've signed up for. Which in turn means that this is already on my radar, and my hold list. But I still enjoy the pleasure of sharing the anticipation!
