Scene of the Blog Featuring Jennifer of Jenny Loves to Read!

When I first saw Jennifer's blog, I fell in love with the header art and the background of hummingbirds. When I begin to sample this Pennsylvania book blogger's posts, it was easy to see that we shared a bit of reading DNA.

When you visit Jenny Loves to Read, you'll see that she's in the middle of an "It-Along", there's a new puppy in the house (more of Kona later), and that she reads an eclectic mix of books. There's a lot to like in Jennifer's blog, and I hope you'll take this opportunity to pay her a visit at Jenny Loves to Read. Don't forget to say hello while you're there!

If you're visiting from Jennifer's blog-- Welcome! I'm glad you came over to take a look at her creative spaces. If you'd like to see any of the photos in larger sizes, all you have to do is click on them and they'll open in new windows. After checking out Jennifer's place, you're more than welcome to take a look at those of previous participants. Click on the Scene of the Blog tab at the very top of my header. There are two ways to search: by Blog Name and by Location. Jennifer's ready to take us on a tour, so let's go!

Blogging Central
I have several blogging spaces. Whenever I get a free moment, I jot down a few lines or thoughts about the books I am currently reading.  My main space would be my kitchen table on my laptop.  This is my "home office" because it is the best space that works for me.  I could go upstairs, but then I would be away from the husband and puppy and they would just bug me.  "When are you coming down?  Are you done yet?"  Being in the kitchen makes it easier because I can pop on and off.  You can also see my other two interests in this photo.  Knitting on the left hand side and teaching books in the upper right corner.  Knitting helps me unwind, and teaching is an outlet for me, believe it or not.  I enjoy it and I always learn something new.

A work necessity!
I also do a little bit of blogging at work on my lunch hour.  Clean things up, read drafts, catch up on reading other blogs.  Speaking of work, I also have a drawer full of books I keep in my cubbie.  These are all part of my TBR.  I actually scavenged that filing cabinet from an empty office just to hold my books.  Not for work papers, oh no, got to store extra books.  Scary isn't it?  I make my colleagues laugh though because sometimes they will wander by my desk, saying they need something to read on the way home.  I  open my drawer and ask what are they interested in, and their mouths drop open when they see all those books.  They always return them when they are finished.

Will blog... anywhere!

The last place I do some blogging (and also half of my reading) is on the subway commuting to and from work.  If I'm not reading a book, then I am writing posts old school with pen and paper.  Sometimes my thoughts just flow better when I hand write my posts.  I feel a bit of clarity or something.

Guilty....

As for the remainder of my reading time, it's usually a half hour before bed in bed with my relatively new puppy Kona.  I tried to take a picture of her in bed, but she wasn't having it, so here's one of my favorite ones of her.    She snuggles up to me as I read and really there's nothing like a good book and  dog (or cat) by your side.

Congratulations, Jennifer, you're my first Subway Blogger on this feature! I swear I have that same skein of yarn here in my own house, and if I worked with you, I'd most definitely want an occasional rummage through that book drawer! As for Kona... who could resist a face like that?

Thank you so much for allowing us this glimpse into your home. We really appreciate it!

Don't forget to stop by next Wednesday when I'll be featuring another book blogger from our worldwide community!

    1. Bermuda you are too kind! Thanks you so much and you know the feeling is mutual. You review books that are sometimes not in my wheelhouse, but you push me to try them.
Kona is a great buddy, for sure. Especially when I scratch her belly as I read :)

How cool that you keep a drawer full of books at work! Is that skein of yarn 'simply soft'?

    1. Thanks Naida!
The skein of yarn is Lamb's Pride worsted. 85% wool, 15% mohair. I used it with another yarn for a sweater and it was quite warm

  10. Jenny is one of my favourite bloggers in blogland and I now count her amongst special friends I'd never have had the opportunity to get to know but for blogging. Kona is adorable and I love the TBR filing cabinet drawer, watch out it might become a whole filing cabinet not just the drawer lol

    1. Teddy that is so sweet! True, without blogging we would have never "met". I am happy and proud and call you my friend.

As for an entire filing cabinet, my coworker at I just looked at my whole desk yesterday and realized it looks like a "Lifer's" desk. You know that lady that has been around the office for a LONG time, and her desk looks like a bomb hit it. Provided a good laugh but, that's a no on the cabinet :)

  11. Love your drawer of books and the pic of Kona. She's getting so big! You are lucky to live somewhere with public transportation. Maybe what I miss most about living in DC.
I know what you mean about not wanting to be away from your hubby and puppy to blog. Same thing happens here.

    1. Public transportation is definitely important and I am so spoiled because of it.
Hard to balance family and blogging but at least being on one floor makes it easier :)

    1. Thanks Michelle. I have to say I didn't think the filing cabinet would be such a hit. Wait until I tell the girls at work. THEY all think I'm crazy.

  14. Love this!! I adore Jen and it was so much fun to see all her blogging spaces--including the subway. I knew she was a commuter but I didn't realize she blogged on the road. Jealous! ;)

And love that Kona pup. Such a sweet reading companion.

  15. OMG I LOVE the concept of a book filing cabinet! You could definitely be on to something ~ I can see the headlines now "Blogger creates new storage for books - on sale today for only $29.95" What a great idea to re-use an old supply! You should put that picture on pinterest if you haven't already! I swear someone will copy it :-D
