Scene of the Blog Featuring Natalie of Songs and Stories

I have to admit that I'm drawn to art, so when I saw the blog header art of this week's featured book blogger, I felt right at home. (If I'm not mistaken, it's Waterhouse's Miranda.)

This week we're visiting Natalie of Songs and Stories. Natalie is a student in Oregon whose love of books is abundantly clear from looking at her blog. (And when I looked through posts and her profile, I  discovered that we share some favorite books, movies and music.)

If you haven't visited Natalie's blog, I hope you take a few minutes to visit and to say hello. If you're visiting from Songs and Stories-- welcome! I'm glad you came to take a look at Natalie's creative spaces. If you click on any of the photos, they will open in new windows. Natalie's waiting to take us on a tour, so let's not keep her waiting!

Natalie's desk
This is where I do 60% of my blogging and no, it is not normally even close to being this neat. I make myself organize once every month or two…or three. My poor, battered computer protests my abuse of it every so often by deleting my e-mails and my keyboard joins in with typo after typo. (None of this is user error, of course. Perish the thought.) My lovely monitor, on the other hand, was brand new on my birthday and has never given me a moment’s grief. The ear-buds lying there are a rare sight; usually they are attached to my head.

Natalie's bed
A further 25% of my blogging is done sitting cross-legged on my bed with a spiral-bound notebook or the latest novel in hand. My room is a cramped little box and there is nowhere else to sit. Then again, I am lucky enough to be the only person in the house with their own room in which to store my mountains of books and boxes of novels and…well, you get the picture. Let’s just say that the other side of my room was occupied by an invading horde of fiction long ago and I have never managed to retrieve certain sections of the carpet.

Where Natalie finds inspiration
The remaining 15% belongs to the outdoors. When I am feeling bereft of creativity or if I need to get away from the computer before my eyes start to bleed, I drag my younger brother on a walk and bounce ideas off his head until I come up with something worthwhile. (It is amazing he hasn’t developed a concussion.) This process works surprisingly well until he rebels and starts bouncing ideas for his video game plans off of me.

Thank you for visiting my little world, I hope you stop in again for a cup of tea sometime. :)

I love your sense of humor, Natalie! I also love where you seek inspiration-- probably because I find it in similar places here, too. Thanks so much for sharing your creative spaces with us. We certainly appreciated the tour!

Don't forget to stop by next Wednesday when I'll be featuring another book blogger from our worldwide community!

  1. I love that built in bookcase near the bed. Makes them easily accessible at all times! I agree that getting outdoors really gets the creative juices flowing.
