Scene of the Blog Featuring Heather of Raging Bibliomania!

One day in the distant past, I was reading blogs and happened to see several comments left by someone calling herself "Zibilee". I tracked her down to her own blog, and after reading some of her posts, I subscribed.

You won't find any fancy blog design, you won't find many bells and whistles, but what you will find is content focusing on well-written book reviews covering a variety of genres and topics. (In other words, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.)

Heather

If you've never visited Heather at her blog, Raging Bibliomania, I certainly hope you take the time to do so today; I have a feeling that you'll be subscribing just like I did!

If you'd like to see any of the following photos in their original sizes, just click on them. Take it away, Heather!

Blog Central

A lot of bloggers have a nice desk or a comfortable table on which to compose their bookish posts. I, on the other hand, have my cozy little La-Z-Boy couch. I find it's the perfect space for me and often have trouble being creative if I'm not on this little green couch. As you can see, I share my couch with tons of books and magazines, and in this way I'm able to keep all the pertinent books I may be writing about at arm's length. I also have to admit that any book that I may have a hankering to read over the next few weeks often ends up on my couch as well.

Boogie

Sometimes I have to share my creative space with my rather large dog Boogie, who loves to be close, and will whine if he's not allowed to help contribute to my creative endeavors. We sometimes have a little wrestling match for space, with Boogie being the winner a majority of the time. My little love seat is in the perfect spot because I can sit there with a cup of tea or coffee on my right and look across the room and survey the neighborhood through the window. I also find it's the prefect reading spot, and I'll happily put up the footrest and get lost for hours in a good book. Oh, I've tried other spaces and spots, but there's something wonderfully magical about this particular spot, and everyone in the house knows just where to find me when I'm blogging, writing or reading. I just park myself there, turn on the laptop and get busy!

I love La-Z-Boy, and I certainly love that shot of Boogie. It's good that you let him share the space with you because I have a feeling that saying no might well be a lost cause!

I think that laptops mean we're moving away from the traditional office and desk set-up, and your blogging space looks comfy. (I'd love to take a seat there and take a peek at all those books!)

Heather, thank you so much for allowing us this glimpse into your home. We really appreciate it!

Who will be our guest on next week's Scene of the Blog? Stop by to find out!

  1. Great to see your blogging space Heather - it looks so comfortable! I have to admit to being more of a cat person, but Boogie is pretty cute for a dog ;)

  3. This is a great feature since it lets us take a peek into the lives of other bloggers. I don't have a desk either, and do most of my blogging/reading on the couch. :)

  4. Count me in as another Raging Bibliomania fan! Heather's reviews are absolutely insightful and objective - an author should know that when their book gets into her hands, they will be treated fairly and provided with wonderful feedback. And more than once, I've had to overwhelm my bookshelves because of her reviews of books that suck me right in! She owes me a new bookshelf! :)

I love, love, love the picture of Boogie - how cute is he with the blanket covering him! I just loving looking at dogs and cats when they're sleeping - so precious!

  5. Mystica: Thanks for stopping by and checking it all out!

Amy: It is rather comfortable in that spot, and though I am sort of a cat person myself, Boogie is the kind of dog that can steal your heart.

Diane: Thanks for the very kind words! You and your blog are a favorite of mine as well!

Darlyn: It's good to hear that I am not the only one working from my comfy couch!

Natalie: Wow, that's some high praise coming from such an esteemed bloggers as yourself, thanks! I also think you would love Boogie in person. He is the world's sweetest dog.

  6. I had the pleasure of meeting Heather in person and she's just as wonderful as her blog is. I love her space and couldn't help but notice the picture of her with Emma Donoghue on her bookcase!

  7. Where does Kathy see Room? I couldn't find it! (I love this though - it's like a Where's Waldo post!)

  8. Kathy: I do have that picture of me and Emma right there where I can see it at all times! I have to say that was the highlight of all my blogging days! And thanks for the kind words. You know, you are probably one of the most awesome people I could have ever met through blogging.

Jill: The is a picture of Emma Donoghue and I on the shelf to the right. She is wearing a red dress. Oh boy, do I love that picture!

  9. I do a lot of my reading in my own La-Z-Boy recliner sans dog, but I still use a desktop computer and a large cluttered desk. I imagine writing a blog on a laptop with Boogie sleeping and crowding would be a little difficult but worth it.
    He's adorable.

  10. Rural View: It is hard sometimes to share a space with a dog who wants to be where the action is at all times, but we get it done, and it's actually nice to have him close when it's cold outside!

  11. Whether you call her Zibilee or Heather, she does have a terrific blog with very well written book reviews, which I visit often. I am the same way as her, and always blog from the same place, where I can think and create, although it is a desk and regular (full size) computer.

    Wonderful guestpost! :)

  12. I am also a sofa blogger and adhere to the everything at arm´s length principle!

Thanks for sharing Heather´s universe with us.

  14. Suko: Thanks for all the kind words, I appreciate you. I would one day love to have the space for a full size desk and computer, but for now, I am happy right where I am!

Dorte H: Isn't it nice when you can have everything right there for you, whether it's a book, a cup of tea, or the computer? I like that a lot.

Pam: Thanks for the kind words. I am glad you stopped over to see where I work from!

  15. Heather, I blog and read on a green couch too LOL!! =) Love the pics!

  16. I just can't get over these bloggers who can blog from a couch. I'm chained to a desk! (But at least I don't have to share my space with a big dog!)

Zibilee writes some of the most insightful, thorough books reviews around. She is a real talent.

  17. Jenny: Yay for the green couches!

Jenners: Thanks for your very generous assessment of my writing! I also would prefer a desk, but maybe soon. Boogie is really a great writing partner sometimes, so it's not too bad to have to share a space with him!

  18. I can't believe Kathy can recognize authors in small photos. I'm convinced she has a ginormous screen. :-D

Great post on a great blogger!

  19. Jill: That surprised me too! I didn't think anyone would notice me and Emma hanging out on the bookshelf together! Thanks for the kind words as well!

  20. Heather's blog is one I routinely check every morning; fantastic reviews of great books :)

Mr. Boogie is adorable! I love that he likes to contribute. My dog, on the other hand, gets annoyed when he sees me pull out the computer and starts dancing all around the house so that I'll pay attention to him :(

  21. BookGirl: I love it that you make it a point to stop by everyday, and I have to admit that you leave the most wonderful comments. I am lucky that Boogie is so quiet and calm, because with his size, if he were dancing around me, I might have a problem!

  22. I've always been intrigued by the unusual name Zibilee, and often like what she has to say in the comments sections of the blogs I read. It's fun to see her face and her space.

  23. Jeanne: Thanks for the nice comments! I am going to have to check out your space too!

  26. I always enjoy this feature as it helps me find new blogs to read,

  27. Pets just don't like to share, do they?! As long as Boogie isn't drooling on or chewing up those great books, I'd let him hog the space too :0)

  28. I love Heather's reviews! And I love her blog space. It looks very similar to mine. It's so nice to recline and chill with the laptop. ;)
