Scene of the Blog Featuring Nicola of Alpha Heroes!

If you've paid any attention to this blog over the months, you know that I'm not exactly a fan of romantic fiction. Nicola, a project manager at a tech company in Seattle, Washington, reviews romantic fiction on her blog, Alpha Heroes.

Why on earth is Nicola's blog in my Google Reader? Because I enjoy her reviews!

I also love her header, which is a photo she took of a lavender farm in Sequim, Washington. It wouldn't have a thing to do with the fact that I've driven past that gorgeous lavender farm more than once. Nope. Not got a thing to do with it!

Nicola's reviews do not contain synopses and they're pretty much spoiler free. I really enjoy reading them, even if I don't read romance. If you've never stopped by Alpha Heroes, I hope you make time to do that today. Smell the lavender, read a few of Nicola's reviews, and say hello!

Nicola didn't send me a write-up describing her blogging space, but the photo is fairly self-explanatory.

It's obvious that Nicola is another mobile blogger. From her laptop's location in the kitchen, she seems to prefer being where the action is with a stack of books and her Diet Coke at hand.

If she has anything to add, I'm sure she'll make a comment or two, but in the mean time, I really appreciate her willingness to show us all where those marvelous book reviews come from. Thank you, Nicola!

Whose creative space will be featured next week on Scene of the Blog? You'll have to stop by to find out. See you then!

  4. Bermuda, you got it in one! The pink cup and the craft glue gave me away, eh?

I'm a little embarrassed that I didn't do a write up or send photos of my TBR or shelves or anything. Cathy pinged me for this before I'd seen any examples and other folks have done such a nice job with theirs!

Thanks for the feature Cathy, and especially cuz you got hardly any help from me!

And Beth, thanks for the compliment on the photo, I'm pretty proud of it.

Serena, mobile is the only way to go, isn't it? If I'm not in the kitchen, I'm watching movies on the laptop from the couch, or surfing from a coffeeshop (when squabbling kids is more the action to get away from, if you know what I mean!)

  6. Hey, what a great feature! Okay, I love Nicola's incisive reviews. And I love seeing where it all happens. Nicola, you have a lovely kitchen. I can see how that would be a run, relaxed atmosphere to blog in.

  7. Heh. If you notice, that photo is VERY CAREFULLY framed so you can't see the piles of junk or dirty dishes on the counters.

Some days are more relaxed than others in there...

  8. You have two ovens Nicola? Witch! I want two ovens. *grin*

Seriously though, awesome work space. It reminds me of mine during the summers - anywhere but at a desk.

  10. It does look soothing with the dirty dishes out of the frame Nicola! ;0)

I am not a fan of the romance genre, but I have tons of romance author's blogs in my Reader and have made some great connections through blogging friendships with them. Just because it isn't my style doesn't mean we don't have a lot of the same challenges in common. I feel lucky to have been welcomed by them. Maybe one day they'll convert me to the world of romance writing.

  11. Jackie, I use the big one to store pots. The little one is nice because heating up chicken nuggets doesn't consume as much power, heh.

Sharon, thank you for the compliment!

Bumbles, good writing is good writing, you know? Even though we all have preferences about what kind of story we want to read, some things are just core.

  12. Well, Cathy, I did it again. You sent me over to check out Nicola's blog and I never came back. I love Romance and picked up some good suggestions over there Plus - a challenge and another new blog to follow . . . I just kept hopping around. And, her writing is very good, as you predicted. Thanks.

  15. Nice kitchen, Nicola! I love this idea for a feature.

And of course I love Alpha Heroes reviews. I know what you mean - even when she's reviewing something I'll never read (paranormals), I love her writing and her wit. - Jen
