My Life According to Books, 2012 Edition
by
Cathy
Over the past year or so, I've gotten almost completely away from memes, but there is one that I will always love participating in: Pop Culture Nerd's yearly My Life According to Books.
Every year she gives us fill-in-the-blank sentences that we must complete using the titles of books we've read that year. It's a lot of fun to put together your own answers, but the real enjoyment comes in reading everyone else's.
I hope you decide to participate. If you do, please please please leave a link to your own post here in the comments so I can come and enjoy!(And leave a link at Pop Culture Nerd's blog, too!)
Here we go!
Every Monday I look like Mr. Churchill's Secretary (Susan Elia MacNeal).
Last time I went to a doctor was because (I was at) Death's Door (James R. Benn).
Last meal I ate was A Deadly Grind (Victoria Hamilton).
My savings account is Frozen Assets (Quentin Bates).
When a creepy guy asks for my number, I Getaway (Lisa Brackmann).
Ignorant politicians make me (go to the) Darkside (Belinda Bauer).
Some people need to spend more time Buried in a Book (Lucy Arlington).
My memoir could be titled And When She Was Good (Laura Lippman).
If I could have, I would've told my teenage self (you have) Only One Life (Sara Blaedel).
In five years I hope I am Pretty in Ink (Karen E. Olson).
I hope you enjoyed my responses, now it's your turn!

About Me

- Hi! I'm addicted to books (especially crime fiction), laughter and traveling off the beaten path. In my free time, when my eyes aren't glued to the printed page, one of them is usually pressed against the viewfinder of my camera. Let's see... books, laughter, travel, photography. Anything else? Oh yeah-- my dream house wouldn't have a kitchen!

LOVE! I don't know how I missed her Life in Books post in my reader, but I definitely need to find it. I love participating each year.
ReplyDeleteParticularly love your Frozen Assets bank account. Uh oh... :)
It's frozen as far as money coming out because that cash is earmarked for a trip to the UK next year. :-)
DeleteThis is a fun meme!
ReplyDeleteI love it; it is so much fun!
DeleteMine is here:

I had huge fun with it. :-)
Thanks so much for the link. I'll head on over there right now!
DeleteYou did great! My books (titles) aren't really cooperating this year. :-(
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the contrariness of the titles of the books we've read. Last year I wanted to cheat and take a look at the books I hadn't read yet... but I didn't.
DeleteOh, Cathy, these are great!! I'm so glad you played along :-). I especially like your savings account one and your memoir one :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is something I wish happened more than once a year!
DeleteI posted my list! This is fun! Here's My Life in Books!
ReplyDeleteI'm on my way! :-)
DeleteFun choices! I'm working on mine for tomorrow. This is such a fun meme. I love reading everyone's posts.
ReplyDeleteReading everyone else's posts is even more fun than coming up with your own answers, isn't it? :-)
DeleteLove your choices...especially your advice as to what people need to spend more time on. Here's My Life in Books.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was a rather inspired choice myself. ;-)
DeleteLike you Cathy this is about the only meme I still participate in because it's such fun making the choices. There seems to be a common theme though - none of us has any money in our bank accounts - I guess all our spare cash goes on books :)
ReplyDeleteErm... I didn't say that there was no money in my savings account, just that it was frozen. I've earmarked a big chunk of it as spending money for a trip to the UK. :-)
DeleteCathy, I'm just now catching up a little on reading and replying to everyone's lists. I love your choices, especially regarding your savings account and what people should spend more time doing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating and encouraging others to do the same!
You're welcome, Elyse. I never want to see this particular meme die!
